Highlight of the hotel and stay - Magda on front desk, is outstanding and a superstar in every way! I wish every hotel had a Magda. I hope she’s appreciated by the hotel and paid well as she truly looks after guests and personally treated me so well during my week stay. So lovely and personable. I arrived to some surprise chocolates and strawberries and a card in my room as it was my birthday which was such a sweet surprise upon arrival. Hotel is in a great central location but thankfully also quiet. Lovely facilities and breakfast buffet, highly recommend this place for business, families and leisure guests.

We had a nice stay at Novotel during our trip to Edinburgh. The room was comfortable and tidy. Only some minor cleanliness issues, but nothing unforgivable: one of the mugs had a small coffee stain and I found someone else’s hair on the bed. The room was also spacious. The large closet was useful for hanging up coats and storing some clothes. The bathroom had adequate counter space for all our toiletries. Complimentary water—sparkling and still—and milk sachets were ready for us in the fridge upon arrival. They topped up the water every day, which was thoughtful. The location was good, but is a slight way from the main attractions, so you’ll have to walk a bit. There is a small Sainsbury’s nearby. Front desk staff was polite. The check-in process was smooth. No hiccups.

Overall, we had a very good stay. The hotel was actually better than some 4-star hotels we’ve stayed in London. Everything was very clean, the furniture was modern, and the beds were very comfortable with a great mattress. The only downside was the bathroom layout. The toilet is in a separate room without a sink, so you need to go to the main bathroom to wash your hands. It felt a bit unusual and not very practical. Check-in could have been handled better. We arrived early and understood rooms weren’t ready, so we left our bags and went out. When we returned around 1pm, we were reminded that check-in was at 3pm. We waited at the bar, but no one informed us when rooms became available. After checking again ourselves, a room was ready. A small update from reception would have been appreciated. Overall, a pleasant stay and we would return.

Overall, our stay was pleasant. The rooms were on the smaller side, however we were able to make it work comfortably for the three of us and our luggage. The service was good throughout our stay. We had our washing done and returned the same day, which was very convenient and much appreciated. Breakfast offers a smaller selection, but there was enough variety to start the day well. The location is quite central, which is convenient. We had a rental car and chose this hotel on the understanding that parking was available. While parking is offered, it was at capacity upon our arrival, so we were directed to the nearby NCP public car park down the road. The walk back to the hotel is uphill, so I would recommend dropping off your luggage first before parking, if possible. The hotel does provide a parking validation ticket which reduces the cost at NCP, which was helpful.

The hotel is in a perfect location to explore Edinburgh from. The hotel is clean, modern and comfortable perhaps could benefit from a large lounge seating area. Hotel staff are very helpful. Breakfast is amazing. It has a pool but that is very small is the only negative but I consider that a nice to have! Rooms spacious and layout good, bathroom is compact. Highly recommend especially for families with young children.
