The overall experience was ok. We had a pleasant stay at this hotel, comfortable rooms, good breakfast. The pool was perfect to relax after a full day of visiting. The only downsize was the chlorine from the pool area. It was very strong, my eyes stang while i was there.

The hotel is in a perfect location to explore Edinburgh from. The hotel is clean, modern and comfortable perhaps could benefit from a large lounge seating area. Hotel staff are very helpful. Breakfast is amazing. It has a pool but that is very small is the only negative but I consider that a nice to have! Rooms spacious and layout good, bathroom is compact. Highly recommend especially for families with young children.

We enjoyed our stay at Novotel Edinburgh, staff were welcoming and made check in and out very simple and quick. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed the hotels breakfast buffet and made use of the swimming pool, don’t be fooled the pool is freezing cold! The changing rooms are very small so come down prepared, still enjoyable nonetheless. The wifi was very poor as well as phone signal (not the hotels fault) if reliant on wifi this may be a problem for you, wasn’t too much of an issue for us. The room was really nice and a good size, the bed was comfy, the hotel was in a nice spot which wasn’t loud at night. The room was very clean, the only negative we found was the tv in the bedroom. It is a smart tv but none of the smart features worked, so you could only watch a few of the free view channels. Finally, parking is crazy expensive! We stayed two nights and paid £36, parking was extremely secure and safe. But we would have rather parked elsewhere for considerably less. We had a lovely time however and would definitely recommend the hotel and we would stay again.

What did I like? We stayed at the Novotel Edinburgh Centre for 4 nights over Christmas with our family, and overall we had a very pleasant experience. The location was absolutely wonderful – right in the heart of the city, with all the main Edinburgh attractions within easy walking distance. We didn't need to use taxis or buses at all, which made getting around so convenient and stress-free. The breakfast was amazing: a great variety of hot and cold options, everything tasted fresh and delicious, and the restaurant area was always spotlessly clean. The room was spacious enough for our family, spotlessly clean on arrival, and the daily housekeeping service was efficient and thorough without ever being intrusive. Check-in and check-out were smooth overall, though check-in took a bit longer than usual due to the busy Christmas period – completely understandable. Most importantly, the staff were outstanding: genuinely friendly, supportive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we had a good stay. The hotel also has a pool and jacuzzi, which was a nice bonus facility to have available. What could be improved? There were a few aspects of the room and leisure facilities that could be better. In our room, the toilet was separate from the main bathroom but unusually did not have its own sink – the space was very cramped and poorly ventilated, and having to leave the toilet cubicle to wash hands in the main bathroom area was quite inconvenient. There was also no toilet brush provided. Regarding the pool, while it's great that the hotel offers one, the small size and shallow depth seemed to require heavy daily chlorination, which caused noticeable eye and throat irritation for us. More concerning was the lack of supervision: there were no clear rules enforced about showering before entry or wearing proper swimwear, and unfortunately this led to my wife developing a urinary tract infection after the second day, meaning she couldn't use the pool again. The jacuzzi water didn't feel particularly clean, and the sauna was not hot enough to be effective. Overall Despite a few shortcomings with the bathroom layout and pool maintenance, the Novotel Edinburgh Centre's excellent central location, tasty breakfast, friendly staff, and clean comfortable rooms made for a lovely family Christmas stay in Edinburgh.

I had a really lovely stay at Novotel Edinburgh City Centre. Check‑in was smooth, my Accor membership was recognised straight away, and I was offered a late checkout. When I got to my room, there were welcome chocolates and a box of Scottish breakfast tea waiting for me, which was such a nice touch. The room itself was spacious, clean, and comfortable. I also enjoyed the amenities — I tried the pool and sauna, and I used my free welcome drink at the bar where the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. The only issue I had was with housekeeping on the day I was leaving. I’d confirmed a 1:30 pm checkout as part of my membership perks, but it seems the message didn’t reach the housekeeper assigned to my room. She came in while I was still inside and insisted (quite forcefully) that checkout was at 12. Even after I tried to explain, she walked off and left the door on the latch, which made me feel rushed and uncomfortable. I called reception, and they confirmed again that my late checkout was noted and said they’d inform housekeeping. I just wish the housekeeping staff could be a bit nicer and not rude, especially in situations where there might simply be a miscommunication. It was disappointing because everything else about the stay was genuinely great — I was literally on the Accor app planning my next booking when this happened. Maybe I should’ve reminded reception again that morning, but I do hope the communication between teams can be improved so this doesn’t happen to other guests. Aside from that, it was a pleasant stay overall, and I’d still consider coming back. Update: After my stay, I thought I’d misplaced a really valuable item and the team were incredibly helpful and supportive while I tried to locate them. I later found it in my own belongings, but I really appreciated how professional and reassuring the staff were throughout. Their assistance meant a lot.
