4 nights at the voco Edinburgh – Royal Terrace

Great desk staff, great location. The manager Robert is incredible. The only area for improvement would be housekeeping, which is marginal. I cannot say enough about the kind Warm hospitality of the hotel staff. Molly at the front desk is also superb. Rooms are clean, and the hotel is beautiful with a fabulous location. The breakfast is awesome. Again, if there is any room for improvement, it would be housekeeping. I would stay here again. We had to make multiple requests for items like shower gel and towels/toilet paper. Thank you for a wonderful stay overall.

Great little hotel on a quiet street with fantastic service. The breakfast was wonderful. Warning, parking during the day....make sure not to pay the hokey meter or the vultures will come slap you a ticket! We unloaded our car, and my hubby had some stomach issues, and the car was left on the street with barely any cars for 45 minutes... came out to pay, and they had already given us a ticket!

The room and view were wonderful, the food great and Emma is a priceless delight who truly understands hospitality and has such a fun personality. However, the halls are so musty, the elevator avoided when possible, and housekeeping lacking as noted by other recent reviews (linens and towels changed but dirty glasses left behind and a feeling that nothings ever really cleaned)

Completely unethical, unprofessional and zero courtesy from the management. I have been an IHG platinum ambassador member since 2009. On June 16th 2025, I booked three rooms for two nights on a non-refundable rate, but selected a wrong check in date (July 1st instead of August1st). As soon as the reservation was made, I realized the mistake and within few seconds I cancelled my booking. 10 days later I was charged full amount for that reservation (GBP 1,200). I tried to request a waiver through IHG and directly to the hotel through multiple emails but no response. Also called twice and I was told manager can decide but he is on break. Finally, today I got connected to guest relations and after explaining the whole situation, she refused to entertain my request, and while I was still speaking, she hung up the phone. Never experienced such an unprofessional behavior from any decent IHG brand ever. Made few similar mistakes in the past too (as anybody can do) , but never been charged for a reservation being cancelled immediately in few seconds, let alone charged and then refused a waiver. Never even going to stay close to this hotel with such a pathetic and rude behavior. Adding reservation’s and cancellation’s date/timing pictures for everybody’s review.

If I could give this hotel less than one star, I would. My stay was extremely disappointing from start to finish. When we first checked in, the room they gave us was in unacceptable condition — the bathroom was dirty and disgusting. The duty manager's first response was that we should accept the room as is and they would clean it. We refused to accept a dirty room! After refusing, instead of offering a proper solution, the manager downgraded our booking, claiming there were no other rooms available, which is completely unprofessional. The duty manager eventually offered a "solution," that was not satisfied from our side, the whole process was frustrating and handled with a complete lack of professionalism, communication skills, and willingness to help. We had to suggest fixes ourselves. The duty manager kept blaming us for his own mistakes, which should never happen. If the fault is theirs, they should fix it themselves. Instead, all he did was keep saying 'sorry, sorry' without offering any real solution. This was truly shocking for us as Diamond members, we expected better treatment and respect, but unfortunately, there was none at all. On the second day, we requested housekeeping to clean our room. However, the cleaning was shockingly poor: trash bins were left same, almost nothing was moved or tidied, and the room floor appeared untouched — if it was vacuumed at all. It seemed like they didn’t really clean the room. We were shocked also when the manager came on the second day at night to deliver a blanket we requested and just knocked and opened the door immediately by his master key without any respect for our privacy. The entire staff was unhelpful, and disrespectful. There was no respect for guest privacy. We truly felt uncomfortable the entire stay and couldn’t get any proper sleep at all. Cleanliness: terrible.
Service: worse.
Management: poor & unprofessional. I would never never never never recommend this hotel to anyone. Avoid at all costs !!
