We think you will agree that the location of this hotel in Edinburgh is perfect, but we all know it is what is on the inside that really counts. The welcoming 24hr bar is stocked with a great selection of Scottish beers and spirits, the fibre Wi-Fi is free and speedy, and they have a beautiful outdoor courtyard for relaxing with a tipple – when the inclement Scottish weather behaves itself. And with a room upgrade option available, you will certainly enjoy plenty for your money at ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge.

Restaurant

Feeling peckish? You don’t have to leave the hotel: inspired by the spirit of global adventure, the menu at Fogg’s is loaded with everyone’s favourites from tasty pizzas and salads to fragrant soups and diner-style comfort food.

Unwind with a coffee, sip a chilled sauvignon or bond over a beer or two. Their stylish on-site bar is the perfect place to kick back and relax or spend quality time with your travel companions.

I recently stayed at the Ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge and had an great experience. The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of everything, making it easy to explore the city without needing transport. The Royal Mile, restaurants, shops, and attractions, were just a walk away. The hotel itself was a little dated but well kept! The rooms were spotless and well-maintained. Housekeeping did a fantastic job of keeping everything tidy throughout my stay. The bed was comfortable, and all the amenities were in great condition. The staff were friendly, welcoming & always happy to assist with directions, or travel tips if I needed. I would recommend this for your stay if you're looking for a clean, comfortable, and centrally located hotel, besides its not somewhere you spend all day...only a place to rest your head at night! I would definitely stay here again.

For the price and convenience of location I think it’s a great deal. The street is very busy and crowded so just be prepared to have to walk through a crowd of people as soon as you walk outside of the lobby. But if you want to be walking distance from most of Edinburg’s most popular spots then this is the place for you. Our room was modern and clean. Hallways could use some updating. Service was friendly and helpful at the desk.

This is a great budget friendly hotel, located in the heart of Edinburgh. It was walking distance to everything which was great. Breakfast was delicious with a ton of variety. Front desk was very helpful when needed. Unfortunately 2 down sides: 1) we had rude service from the bartender who was also very slow (not friendly or efficient). 2) our room was on the 3rd floor & I'm pretty sure we were directly below the reception because from 5am onwards, all we could hear was rolling suitcases above us. So safe to say we didn't sleep very much. Cool street view from our room though.

Our experience at this hotel last week was extremely disappointing. We had mentioned our allergy condition in the Booking reservation note, but were still given a room on the 8th floor that smelled awful. It was not just the room, the entire hallway on that floor had a terrible odor. Our room was later changed, and while the new one was slightly better, none of the rooms actually match the photos online. The furniture and products are old and unclean. The beds are uncomfortable. This is definitely not a good value-for-money hotel. The night receptionist seemed very unhappy. When we said good night, he did not even respond. On the other hand, Lu, who welcomed us when we first arrived, was very kind and helpful. We truly appreciated her support. The only good thing about the hotel is its location. Since it is in Old Town, we were able to walk to most places easily.

Never book here!!!! Even if you’re tempted by the price, don’t make the mistake I did. Yes, I booked a non-refundable room — and I fully own that. But when I had a legitimate family emergency and reached out to explain the situation, I expected at least a shred of empathy. Instead, I got cold, copy-paste responses hiding behind policy. No flexibility, no understanding, no human decency. Just a hard “no” and the full charge kept. When I finally did arrive (having already paid for a night I couldn’t use), the experience was shockingly poor: • The hallway smelled like stinky feet — genuinely awful. • There was hair on the bathroom floor when I walked in. Disgusting. • The bathroom felt like a boat cabin — cramped, no space to move, no hand towels, and overall uncomfortable. • No outlets near the beds, which is just basic functionality in today’s world. This stay was a reminder that not all hotel brands deserve your trust. Ibis showed zero care for guest experience, both in policy and in practice. The £200 they held onto may have felt like a win for them, but it cost them far more in lost trust and future business. There are plenty of hotels that value their guests. Ibis is not one of them.
