Although the Bruntsfield is outside of the city centre area it is in a rather interesting area. There's the local free common park golf course, loads of interesting restaurants and architecture. The hotel is bright, lots of facilities, good bar and restaurant. Great breakfast definitely worth the price. Room 141 was very spacious. Free Tunocks Tea Cakes! The walk into the museum/Greyfriars area across the common is about 15 minutes and very pleasant. I would definitely short list if travelling to Edinburgh.

The room was clean and excellent. Location was nice, its only 20 mins walk to the center. Felt like a safe place. Breakfast was also very good. Staff was so friendly and welcoming. Thank you.

Great old style hotel with excellent updated rooms. Would only point out that it was more a three star hotel in a four star area. As you get a warm friendly welcome, just don't expect a four star service, as you are your own porter to move your own luggage to and from your room, there is a small but practical lift at reception. Most of these old buildings have preservation orders on them, so not much can be done in or outside apart from painting and decorating. The buffet breakfast layout was of good quality with a wide choice to choose from. Good strength WiFi all over. Situated in one of the top five affluent areas of Edinburgh. A very large green area and Pitch and Putt course (Bruntsfield Links) right opposite the entrance makes it a great view if booked into a front bedroom. As we stayed with 4 other family members, I noticed in one room, the shower cubicle could do with some maintenance or complete refurbishment/updating.

Spacious, well-priced, recently renovated, well-furnished rooms with only minor snags. The initial room we were placed in didn’t have hot water, and we had to report it twice before we were moved to another room. The corridors are a bit labyrinthine but that’s to be expected from an older building. There is a dining area on the lower level with a cosy cafe/bar. The hotel is located on a quiet street overlooking a park, within a walking distance of the cite centre.

WARNING - BED BUGS. I did not have a 4-star experience. I was welcomed fairly coldly by reception when I first checked in, with very minimal explanation of the hotel and its amenities. They either had none or I was not made aware of it. The room was fair (it was a 2 twin bed room), but I noticed housekeeping was not done with a lot of care. I noticed hairs and stains on the sheets. On my 3rd night, I found a bed bug in between my sheet and pillow. When reaching out to the night shift manager, their initial solution was to merely switch out the sheets. I was then offered a different room after pushing for another option. I had to push further to get another room for my friend as they initially suggested I take the separate room (since I found it on my bed), and they stay. These options are unacceptable and should never have been offered to begin with. We asked what their solution was for the next night, and they said they will switch out the mattress and “all will be taken care of”. When questioning further, they shared this “rarely happened”, and last time this happened was the previous year. I suspect they just merely switched out the mattresses then too. After pushing and insisting we get a new room, we were told the day manager will make sure I do. We did get a new room for the remainder of our stay, noticing stains and hairs on our sheets in our other rooms as well. Dubious 4-star rating aside, I really don’t recommend anyone staying here from a cleanliness perspective. So disappointed and disgusted.
