A British restaurant in the heart of London. Francatelli is located in the St James’s Hotel and Club in Mayfair, a stones throw away from London’s top attractions.

Inspired by one of William Drabble’s favourite historical Chef’s, Charles Elme Francatelli, who in the early 1800s was ‘Chief chef of St. James’ Club’. Francatelli was a celebrity chef of his day, who left St James Club to be Queen Victoria’s chief chef, and authored a cookbook ‘The Modern Cook’ in 1846 that will inspire the menu of Francatelli’s at St James Hotel & Club in 2024. The menu will be rooted in simplicity and British produce punctuated with some show stopping dishes.

The restaurant celebrates the richness of Britain, as renowned chef William Drabble partners up with local suppliers, echoing the culinary legacy of Charles Elmé Francatelli. Inspired by the chef’s iconic 1846 cookbook, the restaurant at St. James’s Hotel & Club unveils modern interpretations of 19th-century dishes.

We spent this past weekend at the Althoff St. James Hotel, and the experience was absolutely wonderful. We would especially like to highlight Rishabh, the concierge, who truly made our stay exceptional. He was always smiling, incredibly helpful, and genuinely kind. His professionalism and warm attitude made us feel welcome from the very first moment. Rishabh went above and beyond to assist us with everything we needed, and his dedication and charm really stood out. He is a big part of what made our stay so memorable. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this hotel.

A big thank you to Iveta from housekeeping finding my purse in the safe. Head of housekeeping Anabela called me and placed my purse in the hotel safe. Thank you so much for your help. This our third stay here and it’s spotless .The stay here are tremendous too!

Currently having a wonderful experience! We arrived about 10:30 after very long overnight flight. I had paid for an early check in at 1pm. We checked our bags with the hotel, enjoyed a drink at the bar and then walked around the city. At 1 PM I received a phone call saying our room ready. The staff was very attentive and helpful in making sure this request was fulfilled on time. The accommodations are lovely and we enjoy the bar for a well crafted nightcap. The location is central and convenient, only a few minutes to the Green Park Station

Comfortable with nice toiletries. The rooms are large enough. The bed not the most comfy I’ve slept in. Shower in bath and quite a leg lift to get in and out of. Nice coffee facilities. Zero view but no matter for me. Staff pleasant. Watch the “tip” on the hotel bill. Never had that before - needless to say that was removed. Was a decent price for the location. All things considered would stay there again at that price.

This review is based on the restaurant only. I used a Travelzoo voucher for a six course tasting menu in the restaurant. Our server, Ismile, was very attentive and professional. We enjoyed the food, especially the dessert.
