Giggling Squid Cardiff

Just like it's counterpart in the bay, the city centre branch is absolutely excellent! The consistency between the two is quite remarkable actually! Their food has never disappointed and I find them to be especially good at cooking melt in the mouth pork, duck and squid. I highly recommend you try the caramelised pork belly and fried squid starters - they are out of this world. I'm also a fan of their duck main dishes like the duck confit and the rising star duck curry. This branch feels a bit smaller than the one in the bay, but still has a great atmosphere and I've always been able to do wall ins, even at busy times! Staff are always amazing and service is great. They've been great at helping navigate dietary intolerances as well. Honestly so complaints at all. It's a little on the pricier side, but the quality of the food and service are absolutely worth it! And if you aren't a big eater, just a couple of starters is also plenty of food! Can't recommend enough!

I love Giggling Squid and this one did not disappoint. The food, as always, was exceptional. The flavours, the options, the presentation. All absolutely next level. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully and nice and clean. The waitress wasn’t hugely knowledgeable but I’m hoping it was just her first shift. She even asked us to leave a review and said she gets a free meal if we mention her in a 5 star review. I hope that’s not true!? Very odd thing to say! But anyway… this place is exceptional and I would eat there every single day if I could.

Our visit to Giggling Squid Cardiff was wonderful. The restaurant’s décor is full of colour and charm, that feels both elegant and relaxed. The food was exceptional. Every dish was bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. I tried the Greens salad and the prawn pad Thai. The food was tasty and fresh. The service was great too, friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic. I would definitely like to return.

Fantastic experience overall! The squid and prawn starter was super flavourful and cooked perfectly. Service was excellent—friendly staff and quick food turnaround. The green Thai curry was rich and delicious, but the Pad Thai noodles were overly salty. We mentioned it, and fair play to the waitress—they remade the dish within 5 minutes and completely took it off our bill. The second version was spot on! Cocktails were amazing too—strong and tasty. Definitely recommend for a vibrant Thai dining experience.

During our stay at the Marriott in Cardiff, we explored the nearby streets and decided to try Giggling Squid. The first impression was wonderful—the interior is beautifully decorated with a floral theme, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were very courteous and took the time to guide us through the menu, which we really appreciated. In terms of service and décor, everything was excellent and added to the overall dining experience. However, when it came to the food, we had quite high expectations but felt it didn’t quite live up to them. While it wasn’t bad, it just didn’t match the standard set by the ambiance and service. Overall, it was a good experience—lovely setting, attentive staff, but the food could have been more memorable.
