Hawksmoor Manchester restaurant is located in a late Victorian courthouse on Deansgate, and their aim is to serve the best steaks in city centre. The interior is true to the building and features lots of reclaimed materials from the era, including parquet flooring from a (different) courthouse, panelling from Birmingham’s Sandwell College and (well-cleaned) glazed bricks from a public lavatory in Liverpool.

The menu at Hawksmoor Manchester restaurant features the very best dry-aged beef, sustainable seafood and seasonal farm produce from the UK. You can also dine and drink in their bar featuring award-winning cocktails and nibbles including The Hawksmoor Burger and the British Jersey Rock oysters in 3 ways – natural, with bone marrow or Vietnamese-style.

If you’d prefer more intimate dining, for small groups and celebrations we have a private dining room that seats 10-14 as well as a semi-private area to seat up to 30.

As at all of their restaurants there’s £5 corkage every Monday and on Sundays there’s the roast beef that Observer Food Monthly named ‘Best Sunday Lunch in the UK’.

For those needing respite from shopping or a post-museum pick-me-up there is also a set menu available lunch and early evenings Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday.

So we opted for the set menu and it was honestly absolutely fantastic. The quality of the food was just incredible, it was truly unbelievable! The service was also excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself has a wonderful ambiance and overall atmosphere, and we would definitely be going back again.

I attended Hawksmoor on a Sunday, having never been for Sunday lunch before. We started with 12 oysters — both natural and Vietnamese. The natural oysters were definitely the better of the two. For the main course, we chose the Prime Rib sharing option. As a group of four, we went for the 900g bone-in cut. The meat was cooked perfectly, full of flavour, and of exceptional quality. The accompanying trimmings were plentiful, with the Yorkshire puddings being a particular highlight, closely followed by the roast potatoes (although I would have preferred them a little more well done). The only disappointing item was the carrots. We followed this with desserts, which I wouldn’t bother with again — sorry, but they were fairly average compared to the outstanding standard of the rest of the meal. One thing I would love to do on a daily basis, however, is buy the bread they serve. I’ve honestly never had bread that good. The service was exceptional. Even though the restaurant was packed, we never had to look around for a server — they were constantly attentive and checking if anyone needed anything, which is very rare these days. The meal also wasn’t rushed at all. The atmosphere was great: good music, not too loud, and although the place was very busy, it never felt crowded or like you were sitting on top of the next table. The only other point worth mentioning is that if you’re having the sharing option along with a bottle of wine and water, the table felt a little small. I’d definitely ask for a larger table next time. While drinking coffee, we realised we hadn’t even looked at the prices, so we guessed what the bill would be. Bearing in mind how exceptional the food was, every single one of us guessed higher than the actual total — I was personally £200 off. I’d genuinely say it was very reasonably priced. Overall, we had a fantastic meal in great surroundings, and I’ll now be making this my regular Sunday lunch spot. Thanks to everyone at Hawksmoor.

We went here as my husband loved the menu. I’m vegetarian & there was an option for me, Welli grin, which was delicious! My husband had monkfish & he was able to choose the portion size. Buttered sprouts, spinach & new potatoes were not only gorgeous they were good size portions. This was enough for us, we didn’t order a starter or dessert. We had delicious vodka, Belvedere, it made our meal as we LOVE vodka. Our server was attentive, polite & friendly. We had a really nice night & would highly recommend this restaurant! Our bill was £218 but we spent £96 on 6 vodka’s 😱worth it gir a lovely special treat

Love Hawksmoor, and this location is particularly special. We dined here while celebrating our engagement with friends and had a fantastic experience. Noah looked after us and was outstanding incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and helped us choose a brilliant red wine (highly recommend the Altos Malbec). The food was exceptional (rare to have steaks with a crust this good in the UK), but what really sets this place apart is the service. When a small issue came up, Noah handled it immediately and professionally. He is a real asset to Hawksmoor, and it’s people like Noah who cement its reputation. We can’t wait to return for more great food and whatever you do, don’t skip the Rolos. Hawksmoor’s take on them is the perfect bite to end the meal.

Everything at Hawksmoor was amazing. We got the Sunday roast which was delicious, the meat was perfectly pink, the roasties crisp and the Yorkshire pudding was crisp and fluffy at the same time. I got the Boatyard martini, and it was probably the best martini I’ve ever had. Augustus was our server and truly gave us the best service we could’ve asked for. He was very attentive and considerate, and when he noticed my friend wasn’t feeling well he did everything he could to try and make her experience better. Truly a great start to a gloomy Sunday day.
