Which sea creatures do you love the most? Magnificent sharks, colourful clownfish or perhaps inquisitive sea turtles? Does a clever common octopus grab your attention or do you prefer playful penguins? Maybe you simply can’t decide!

Here at SEA LIFE London you can make up your mind and see them all – from the curious and the rescued to the rare and the enigmatic. You’ll be able to get closer to them than ever before.

Home to over 500 species in 14 themed zones, there is so much to see at SEA LIFE London Aquarium!

 Discover our Shark Species

Sharks have lived in our oceans for more than 420 million years! That makes them older than trees! Their brains have evolved to become more intelligent and devoted to their senses – mainly their ability to smell. There are over 500 species of shark in our oceans and you’ll meet lots of them when you explore our Pacific Shipwreck!

 Coral Kingdom

They cover less than 1% of the ocean floor, yet over 25% (that’s 1 quarter) of marine species depend on this habitat in some way for survival.

The Coral itself might look like rock or plant but it is actually a type of animal! From the same family as Jellyfish and Sea Anemones, Corals are made up of millions of individual polyps all growing on top of each other. Each of these polyps lives within a shell but sticks out little stinging tentacles to catch plankton in the current. Coral polyps share their shell with algae which provides them with most of their food using photosynthesis. In exchange the Coral offers the algae a safe house so they both get a good deal!

 The Octopus

Which creature has three hearts, eight arms and a doughnut shaped brain? You guessed it, it’s the octopus!

There are around 300 species of octopus and we find them in every ocean on our planet, but the common octopus that you’ll  find here at SEA LIFE is native to our UK waters.

Octopus are molluscs which means they are from the same family as Slugs and Snails as well as Cuttlefish and Squid. They are well known for being very clever. In fact they are one of the most intelligent invertebrate species (that means animals with no backbone).

Go on, have a little nosey at some of the greatest creatures you’ll come face to fin at our aquarium.

Visited SEA LIFE London Aquarium with the children and hubby we had a really good day overall. There was so much for them to see and they were excited the whole way through. We loved seeing all the fish and turtles, and the stingrays were my favourite because you can get really close to them. There was an unexpected moment during our visit when the fire alarm was set off by another child (we don’t know who), so everyone had to go outside in the cold and then come back in. Staff handled it really well and kept everything calm and organised. The penguin area was quite dark when we visited so we couldn’t see them clearly, but we understand and respect that this is part of their natural routine at this time of year. Pros • Loads for children to see and enjoy • Stingrays up close were amazing • Great variety of sea life (fish, turtles, rays) • Staff dealt with the fire alarm situation really well Cons • Penguins were difficult to see due to low lighting (understandable, but worth noting) • Photo packages are quite expensive, especially if you’re doing multiple attractions in one day • Snacks inside are extremely overpriced don’t rely on buying snacks there Cost tips • Bring your own snacks and drinks if you can • If you need to grab snacks, there’s a Tesco Express about a 5-minute walk away and it’s likely the cheapest option nearby Overall: a really enjoyable family day out just plan ahead for snacks and extras like photos.

This is a beautiful place to take your children to. The exhibits are catered to children and at the perfect heights for inquisitive eyes & minds. The aquarium has guides that speak about the types of marine life in the exhibits as you walk through and the music and atmosphere of each exhibit really takes you into a whole other world. It was a very nice place to visit and enjoy together!!

Great visit to SEA LIFE London Aquarium with our 3-year-old. Lots of colourful fish at child height, very engaging for little ones. The tunnel with sharks and rays was a big hit. Pushchair-friendly and just the right length of time for a toddler. Highly recommend for families!

Absolutely love this aquarium! So so many things to see, plenty of open spaces and breaks in between. Accessible for all. Staff were so lovely and heard many informational talks which were great. Had a break at the bar and it has a great view of the huge shark tank so it was amazing to just relax and watch. We got tickets in advanced, but there was no wait luckily. Made it very easy to get in though.

I really loved it, the place is big so at least you will be there for 2 hours, if you want to enjoy the place without a rush. The views are magical and it even has a tropical fauna area.
