RESTAURANT & BAR

Good food and drink are essential ingredients for any getaway and the hotel’s restaurants and bars don’t disappoint. From breakfasts that leave you raring to go, to evening meals with the wow factor we’ve got all your culinary needs covered.

Chef Dominik Kawalec is the Head Chef for Drinks and Dining, as well as all Surgeons Quarter Events Areas. Dominik likes to cook with fresh local produce and he believes few places have a better natural larder than Scotland. His thoughts on restaurant menus are simple – Adam believe in cooking what the customer wants!

The breakfast buffet is served from 7am-10am during the week and from 8am-11am at weekends. It includes all the elements of a Scottish breakfast, cooked meats, cheeses, fruits, cereals, bread and pastries. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

GYM

As part of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, they are delighted to be providing their guests with the opportunity to keep up with their health and fitness routines while visiting Ten Hill Place. Installed on floor -1, the gym offers nine different machines and a free weights section and operates 24h.

Fantastic hotel. We're on our way home, my sister and I, had such a lovely time in Edinburgh- made all the more relaxing & easy with this hotel. They went above and beyond for disability needs and we're very grateful. Great location, walking distance to all the main interests, spacious room, lovely breakfast & evening meal both nights & excellent, friendly hospitality throughout. Thank you so much we'll be returning (for longer next time, hopefully!)

Just stayed here for one night because we headed up to Inverness the next day, but we really liked the room. It was super spacious and it's quite close to old town. So lots of stuff around to explore. We asked for a pub recommendation at the front desk and they recommended the grass market area, which apparently has the tiniest pub called the Wee Pub. We ended up elsewhere in that area but it was an interesting walk from the hotel. The restaurant at the hotel also looked very good but we didn't end up trying that. Overall thought it was a good price, clean, friendly and just a nice place to be

We had a perfect Christmas break at Ten Hill Hotel. All the staff were friendly and polite; however, Kevin truly stood out for his warm, genuine hospitality. He went above and beyond to ensure our happiness, and it was clear that his care and attention came from a genuine place. Rejes and Mark gave a fun, uplifting energy that truly brightened our stay. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the old town and around 20 minutes from the train station. It’s a good location overall; while the main street outside had some edge to it. We never felt unsafe, and there was no noise disturbance inside the hotel rooms. We were part of the Christmas package with food included. There were good meal options and the quality was nice, though it could be refined slightly for an even better experience. Breakfast offered many choices, and the buffet was always well replenished. The bar staff made excellent drinks and cocktails. Overall, we would happily recommend this hotel to friends, family, or anyone visiting Edinburgh. We were very happy with our Christmas package and would book it again.

We stayed at this hotel and honestly can't fault it. The location is excellent as it is close to the centre but not too close so there is no night time noise. The room was beautiful and the bathroom was immaculate and clean. The breakfast was beautiful especially the haggis. We had a meal in the hotel one night and that was lovely too. The staff were exceptional and couldn't be more helpful. If we come back to Edinburgh we would definitely stay at this hotel again. Highly recommend.

DO NOT BOOK HERE if you value your personal belongings or expect basic respect as a guest. My experience at Ten Hill Place Hotel in Edinburgh was extremely disappointing and left me questioning how guest concerns are handled at this property. During my stay, a personal item of clothing went missing immediately after housekeeping serviced my room. My stay was ongoing, and the item had not been packed away in my luggage, it was in the room before housekeeping entered and gone afterwards. While the item was low in monetary value, it held personal memories and mattered to me. When I reported it, the hotel told me they had “investigated and could not find the item.” What was most concerning was that no apology or acknowledgment was offered at any stage. Instead, the General Manager, Mark McKenzie, advised me to file a police report for the missing item in order to obtain a crime reference number for insurance. For a missing pair of pyjamas that disappeared during housekeeping service, this response felt extremely disproportionate and dismissive. What upset me most was not the loss itself, but the way the situation was handled: • No apology or expression of regret • My concern was dismissed rather than taken seriously • Communication made me feel as though I was being unreasonable for raising the issue • The focus appeared to be avoiding responsibility rather than resolving the matter with basic hospitality I made multiple attempts to resolve this privately before writing this review. A simple apology or small goodwill gesture would have been enough. For many travellers, the issue isn’t the value of an item, it’s trust. When hotel staff service your room, you expect your belongings to be safe, and if something goes wrong, that it will be handled with care and respect. There are so many other hotels in the area you should consider.
