Our stay at The Balmoral in Edinburgh was exceptional! I am not exaggerating when I say it was the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. The hotel strikes a perfect balance between luxury and family friendliness. We have a large family, and it's rare to find a luxury hotel that makes you feel completely welcome! The staff went out of their way to accommodate us, setting up adjoining rooms with beds specially made for the kids. One of the most delightful touches was the Owl Teddy Turndown Service. Each night, they brought a stuffed owl and chocolate milk for our youngest, which absolutely special! They even gave her a little passport that she could get stamped at different spots throughout the hotel. She had so much fun! Every detail was thoughtful and personalized. The service, comfort, and warmth we experienced made our stay incredibly special. We created lasting memories as a family and I highly recommend!

Timeless Luxury with a Personal Touch Our family stay at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and professionalism that set the tone for an unforgettable experience. The hotel itself is iconic—elegant, historic, and perfectly located at the heart of the city. We loved being able to walk everywhere—from the Royal Mile to Princes Street Gardens—yet still return to the peaceful comfort of our beautiful room. Traveling with our son, we truly appreciated the spacious accommodations, thoughtful amenities, and little touches that made our stay feel extra special (our son especially loved the surprise treats left for him!). The service was exceptional across the board. The concierge team was incredibly helpful with family-friendly recommendations and even arranged dining reservations for us. Every member of the staff treated us with kindness and made sure both adults and children felt welcome and cared for. We enjoyed wonderful meals at Brasserie Prince, where the food was delicious and the atmosphere relaxed yet refined—ideal for dining with kids. The breakfast was another highlight: generous, fresh, and beautifully presented each morning. The Balmoral blends old-world charm with modern comfort in a way that few hotels do. It felt both grand and inviting, luxurious yet never pretentious. Our family left with full hearts, great memories, and a deep appreciation for Scottish hospitality at its finest. We can’t wait to return. The Balmoral is a true gem, and we now consider it our family’s home in Edinburgh.

This is a true 5-star hotel in the heart of Edinburgh. The rooms are huge, the towels are plush, the AC blew hard but those are the physical attributes. The true stars of the Balmoral are the staff. We had amazing service throughout our visit. It started with Emma helping us with reservation changes, then when we arrived reception and the two porters who met us at the train were so helpful! The concierges were helpful for first-night dinner, the cleaning staff were so friendly. The hotel itself is a true 5 star gem with amazing service. This is the only hotel for me to stay at in Edinburgh. The location worked great to get to the Royal mile (4 min walk), nice restaurants, quick fast food bites, even being near the train station was helpful (never heard a train once). It costs real money only because it's worth it.

The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh is always a pleasure to return to. Whether I am there for a private booking, a special event, or a wedding, the experience remains consistently refined and seamless. The suites and rooms are inviting and impeccably maintained. They offer a lovely sense of comfort with a quiet elegance that makes them ideal spaces for styling hair. The setting allows each appointment to feel unhurried and personal. The team at The Balmoral is attentive and polished in every interaction. Their thoughtful approach and professionalism never go unnoticed and contribute to the overall sense of ease the hotel is so well known for. It is a place I always look forward to working in and one I am proud to recommend to my clients.

Overall not a bad hotel, however, if staying in the high season I do not see the value for the price. There are plenty of other hotels in the city that are better value. Pros The hotel location is central. The front desk staff and the restaurant team were great. Good check in experience and first night at the hotel. The room was nicely decorated and clean. Cons Noise level extreme, if there are events being held in the hotel with loud music. There was a wedding going on and we could hear music past 12:00 a.m., in our room more than 3 floors up -disappointing given how much you are paying. Likewise, the first room we were in had an adjoining room door in it with extremely noisy when other guests moved into the room beside us - again at the price you are paying this is disappointing. ( I will give credit to the front desk team as I called and they moved us to a different room pretty quickly). Some staff were really great, however customer service was mixed and not consistent. Garbage was left by the elevator for 2 days without being cleaned and a robe in the room had dark brown residue on it. Recommendation If you would like to stay here, perhaps stay during the week and in down season, for a quieter experience.
