Is there parking available?

The Parkgate Hotel is located in the centre of Cardiff city, therefore we are unable to offer on-site parking or valet parking services. Thanks to its convenient location, there are a range of public transport options, as well as public car parks, within walking distance of the hotel.

How far is the nearest train station?

The nearest train station will be Cardiff Central Train Station (10 minute walk).

What is the checking in and checking out times please?

Check-in is from 4.00pm on the day of arrival and check-out on the day of departure is at 11.00am. Occasionally, we may be able to accommodate an earlier check in, but this is subject to availability on the day and cannot be assured in advance. Late departures are by prior arrangement, subject to availability and may attract an additional premium. Guests wishing to drop off their luggage before their room is ready may do so with the Guest Service Desk.

Are we able to pay by cash or card for the remainder of our stay?

The Parkgate Hotel does not accept cash or cheque payments. Payments can be made contactless via card or our mobile app.

Can we book the restaurant as we arrive or do we need to book in advance?

All dining reservations must be booked in advance, this also includes breakfast for hotel guests. You can view menus and place dining reservations quickly online. Hotel guests will receive an email a week before and on the day of their arrival with more dining information.

Excellent location for a venue to host a large meeting or conference. A short walk from Cardiff Central Station and the bus station too. Very well decorated and on hand staff were very friendly and helpful. Buffet food was delicious and a nice change from sandwiches which you usually get at other venues across the city. No star given for rooms as I didn't use any of the hotel rooms they have here. Easy access into the reception from the street and a lift available for those who can't manage the steps

Fantastic stay.! Really enjoyed this special night away. The hotel is in a great position to be near the city centre, bars and restaurants. We chose to eat in the hotels Sorting Room restaurant, it was absolutely amazing, the service is 5 star and our server Mo was very attentive, the food was some of the best that we have had in Cardiff. Our room was superb, it really added a feeling of luxury to our night away. The bed was huge, with comfy pillows, the bathroom was very roomy. There was no noise from the street below or from any other rooms during our stay and we slept like logs.

Our first family vacation abroad with our adult children was to England and Wales and each of them had a special experience or sight they wanted to see. The list was longer than the days we were there, but one of the winning ideas was to go to Sting in concert at Cardiff Castle. A friend recommended the Parkgate Hotel, and she couldn’t have been more right! As someone who loves historic hotels and great service, the Parkgate is absolutely perfect. Every staff member was so friendly, helpful, and polite. The hotel was spotless, and our rooms were beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The turndown service with the lavender pillow spritz and temple rub was a real treat. Of course, I can’t talk about the Parkgate without mentioning our star associate: our bellman, Dom. He greeted us with a smile every day and was so helpful with our bags and was very friendly and made sure we were well-oriented as we were leaving the hotel. We really appreciated his kindness and attention to detail. We’re planning a trip back to Wales soon and can’t wait to visit Parkgate again. Hopefully, Dom will be there to greet us!

Amazing experience for afternoon tea with my mam. We were celebrating my birthday and were given complimentary cocktails and a birthday lemon drizzle cake. The sandwiches were the best I’ve had as part of an afternoon tea - crammed full with fillings. Great selection of teas, which we were offered more of once we’d finished our first tea pots. Lovely atmosphere and really well looked after by Giovanna. Would definitely recommend!

When we first pulled up to the hotel after a long travel day we were a little cranky about the parking situation. The appears Dom. He had us laughing in under a minute. We also enjoyed seeing him throughout the hotel always smiling and offering his services. A true gem! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Location was great and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning with great staff.
