Really lovely stay at The Parkgate Hotel. Our room was very comfortable and a decent size, the bed super comfortable and good quality linen. The waterfall shower was great and spacious. The staff were excellent and Dom who greeted us was really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good, lots of choice and a nice restaurant overall. The bars are also nice to relax in the evening. We used the top floor thermal suite which was good, especially as outside it was cold and rainy, bit I did feel that the spa was a little expensive overall (£42 each including discount as staying at hotel). Tip : book the thermal spa in advance as number are limited Small improvements: Our room window was quite close to other building windows so for privacy it would be good to have a voile/net curtain as well as the main heavy curtains. Secondly the coffee from the machine at breakfast wasn't great, not very strong so it would be great to see an improvement here Overall a fantastic stay in a beautiful hotel - the building itself (the old Main Post Office I believe) is fantastic and beautifully restored so you get a real wow factor when you walk in! Great location - 5 min walk from train station and the same to all the shops, restaurants and bars so really central. Staff were excellent and we loved our stay. Really recommend and we will return

Wonderful Stay and Excellent Dining Experience We had a fantastic experience at this hotel and restaurant. The hotel rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with a relaxing atmosphere that made the stay very enjoyable. The staff were warm, professional, and always willing to help, which really added to the overall experience. The restaurant was equally impressive. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with a great variety of options on the menu. Service was prompt and courteous, out server was a lovely gentleman named Mo who was excellent. The ambiance was perfect for both casual dining and special occasions.

This hotel exceeded all my expectations, the perfect blend of comfort and luxury. Service - I could not fault anything, the service was excellent, from the lovely receptionist who checked us in, to the staff working at the restaurant and the spa. They went above and beyond to make this stay special as it was for my cousin's birthday so they decorated the room which turned out beautiful with balloons, bouquet of flowers and macaroons and I was able to give them the cake at check in to set it up with the other decorations. Room - I was able to upgrade to a junior suite prior and this room was so much bigger than I expected, it had a king size bed with a large sofa. Tea and coffee supplies were included, along with kettle and a coffee machine and also had a steam iron inside the wardrobe. It was very comfortable to sleep in and pillows were very soft. Bathroom - This was very clean, and had plenty of spare towels. The shower was spacious and felt luxurious, and they had amenities such as shampoo, conditioner and shower gel included. Food - I had booked a package which included Afternoon Tea and Breakfast, the afternoon tea was delicious with a variety of tea selection and they were able to accommodate to our dietary requirements (vegetarian). The breakfast was buffet style which included hot food, pastries, cereal, yoghurts and fruits, so plenty of options. We opted for the full english which did not disappoint, especially the sautéed potatoes. Spa - We really enjoyed the spa facilities, which included a steam room, sauna, large hydrotherapy pool and relaxation room. We were given a robe, towel and slippers and were able to use the Spa for 90 minutes, and during our booking slot there were only 4 other people at most in the spa with us. Only thing I would reccomend is the temperature in the hydrotherapy pool could be slightly warmer but still very much enjoyed it. The showers inside the changing rooms had amenities such as shampoo, conditioner and shower gel so you didnt need to take any toiletries in with you and they had ghd dryers and hair straighteners as well. Location - No parking on site, but there are plenty of car parks around the area. The hotel is in a central location, with the high street and shopping centre only 5 minute walk away and there's plenty of restaurants around the area. Overall we had a wonderful stay and could not reccomend this hotel enough, we will definitely be coming back.

I was gifted a massage for my birthday by my husband and kids, we have a 5 week old baby and it was just what I needed to relax After a tough start to the year! Moitshepi was so friendly, she made me feel welcome and relaxed straight away, and knew all my tight areas to work, as well as suggesting a treatment for next time focusing on my fave and scalp… which I couldn’t agree more as what she did to my scalp was so relaxing, haven’t ever felt that relaxed! Only wish the scalp part of the massage lasted longer as that was incredible! Thank you Moitshepi, hoping for a better night sleep after that wonderful treatment!!

Recently spent two nights at this lovely hotel & would happily return. Staff were very helpful on arrival. Room was well kept & clean. We booked a 90-minute session in the thermal suite one evening which was lush. All facilities were clean, and as usual, staff were great!
