Is there parking available?

The Parkgate Hotel is located in the centre of Cardiff city, therefore we are unable to offer on-site parking or valet parking services. Thanks to its convenient location, there are a range of public transport options, as well as public car parks, within walking distance of the hotel.

How far is the nearest train station?

The nearest train station will be Cardiff Central Train Station (10 minute walk).

What is the checking in and checking out times please?

Check-in is from 4.00pm on the day of arrival and check-out on the day of departure is at 11.00am. Occasionally, we may be able to accommodate an earlier check in, but this is subject to availability on the day and cannot be assured in advance. Late departures are by prior arrangement, subject to availability and may attract an additional premium. Guests wishing to drop off their luggage before their room is ready may do so with the Guest Service Desk.

Are we able to pay by cash or card for the remainder of our stay?

The Parkgate Hotel does not accept cash or cheque payments. Payments can be made contactless via card or our mobile app.

Can we book the restaurant as we arrive or do we need to book in advance?

All dining reservations must be booked in advance, this also includes breakfast for hotel guests. You can view menus and place dining reservations quickly online. Hotel guests will receive an email a week before and on the day of their arrival with more dining information.

This is the second time visiting The Sorting Room and I and my family were not disappointed. We were served by Giovanna who was was professional but friendly and a credit to the restaurant. We had had the sour dough bread before as a starter and definitely had to have more this time. Our party either had the pork belly or salmon and both plates were both varied, with depth of flavour, that just allowed enough room for dessert. The sticky pudding and accompanying ice cream that followed was exceptional- sticky without being overly sweet, balanced by super smooth ice cream and crumb. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant. We did not stay at the hotel so I am unable to comment on the rooms.

We had a wonderful and comfortable stay here. Positives are location, comfort and the service and staff. We were able to drop our luggage to the hotel before check-in and leave it there after check-out whilst we enjoyed the vast shops of Cardiff town. The breakfast was delicious too. The only negative- we were unable to book the restaurant for dinner. The only available time was 9pm and this was when trying to book before 5pm. We were offered to sit and eat from the bar menu, however we found the music too loud to hold a conversation and the table size not suitable to sit comfortably with a meal. We therefore ordered room service. This was delivered quicker than anticipated but was tepid, the sprouts were extremely soft/soggy, the parsnips and potatoes dried out and the Turkey was dry too. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Overall, I loved it.

Really a lovely hotel. We originally booked for two days but ended up extending our stay because it was just that enjoyable. The rooms are spacious, the restaurant and bar are excellent, and for an additional fee you can access a small, charming spa suite. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the staff. Their attention to detail and warm, personable approach create a genuine sense of comfort. A special thank-you to Lily, who was exceptionally helpful and understanding, and went above and beyond to support me. Her kindness made a real difference. Highly recommended.

We stayed in a Deluxe Junior Suite at The Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff and were really impressed. The room was stunning – beautifully designed and absolutely spotless. Everything felt luxurious and well maintained. The staff were all friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and the breakfast was very good. We also had an evening meal in the restaurant, which was lovely, and our server Mo really stood out – very friendly and provided excellent service. Our only slight issue was with noise. Our room was on the first floor, and as light sleepers, we noticed the windows weren’t very soundproof. There are a couple of bars opposite the hotel, and even though it was a quiet night due to the weather, we could still hear cars and some bar noise. I imagine it could be much louder in the summer. I did ask if we could change rooms, but the hotel was fully booked, so unfortunately that wasn’t possible. When you’re paying around £230 a night, you do expect a bit more peace and quiet. That said, overall it was a lovely stay in a beautiful hotel with great staff – we’d happily return, but would definitely request a higher floor next time.

I bought this as a gift for my parents for a little Christmas treat. They loved their stay and the room, food and hotel was beautiful however I wasn’t aware that you had to pay to use the pool at the hotel. Being part of the Celtic collection I presumed this would be included in the stay. They were going to pay to use the spa/pool area which would’ve been nearly £65 however there was a 90minute limit on their session. They decided it wasn’t worth that if they couldn’t spend the whole day there so decided not to use it and come home early. Such a shame as everything else was lovely
