The Potted Pig in Cardiff city centre is located in a former bank vault beneath the city, the restaurant and bar shares its passion for modern British food and wonderful wines and gins through ever-changing, seasonal menus and the odd whole suckling pig!

Passionate about good quality local produce and high quality wines, The Potted Pig proudly serves a varied and constantly changing menu of modern British food with Welsh, French and New-York grill inspired influences. The menus are based on food they love cooking and eating rather than a single concept, so you always get a taste of what excites us!

Since opening in 2011, they’ve forged great relationships with some of the finest independent and local suppliers so that they can deliver only the freshest, seasonal flavours to your plate.

The wine and drinks menu has been carefully curated to match each of their dishes and they carry an excellent range of independently sourced wines from all over the world as well as a fantastic array of bottled lagers, ales and ciders. Don’t forget also to check out their extensive spirit range including an unrivalled choice of bespoke gin – if you’re not in the mood for food why not pop by and enjoy some of Steve’s incredible cocktails on one of our bar tables?

Absolutely fantastic. This is my third time visiting, once for evening meal and twice for roast, this time we tried the sharing roast with lamb, pork and beef. The lamb fell apart, the pork was tender and the beef was just the right amount of pink. Crisp potatoes, perfectly cooked veg, love that it includes cauliflower cheese as most places this is an additional side you have to pay extra for! We got there early so got to enjoy the calm moments before it got busy. Such a beautiful venue, wonderful attentive staff, and probably one of the best roasts iv had. A firm favourite that I will always return to when I visit Cardiff for a weekend.

Food that tastes so good, it makes you smile. Great restaurant, of the same vein as Great Britain and Alfred the Great. Monumentally Great. The service was impeccable, friendly and comfortable without being overbearing or intrusive, and all staff smiling, positive, clearly enjoying their work and proud of it too. Very fast on food coming out, and very quick to clear the table. But no element of rushing. The building itself is an atmospheric redeveloped bank vault, with tealights on the tables and soft orange lighting that illuminates the old brick arches. I ate the potted pig to start (by far the best potted pig I've tried in Wales, and I try some from a different place, when possible, every time I visit the country), which was served warm with house pickles, each uniquely flavoured and still crisp, a slice of real bread, and a sizeable chunk of butter. For my main, I had the glamorgan sausage, because I'd never had one before and I'm trying to try ALL of the Welsh cuisine as I visit fairly often due to work. They appeared to have been freshly made, and we're absolutely delicious, served with atop some creamy peas and beans, and garnished with my favourite of all the leaves, peashoots. Portion size may appear small at first glance, but this is fresh, high quality, locally grown produce and it is filling. My two courses more than set me up for the rest of my day. A genuinely enjoyable experience in my mouth, and in my mind. Overall, absolutely recommend it, I think it's my new favourite restaurant in Cardiff! And it'll take a lot to beat them, true story. I'll be back with the other half to see if he agrees 👏👏👏

This is a fantastic restaurant, great food, and amazing service. I don't recommend it, I just INSIST you come here! If you are not impressed by the sumptuous gourmet dishes from a really professional chef then I don't know what you should do in Cardiff. I ordered the breast of duck exquisitely topped with pear, which tasted amazing. I was pleasantly surprised that at the end when I paid they took the duck off the bill as I had waited a long time according to them, but it didn't really seem that way to me, even when I insisted on paying I was refused. The staff - masters of their craft, the waitress was very pleasant this evening, did a great job with everything. Left a good impression. Would highly recommend this place if you are in Cardiff💖

Style over substance. Looks nicer than it tastes. The lamb was definitely not worth £33.. starters and sides were marginally better than the mains. You’re better off spending the same at Parallel, which is right opposite.

I recently visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening with several friends. We went down stairs and were warmly greeted and taken to our table by a lovely lady, she was amazing with every interaction throughout the evening, however, that was where the highlight of the food service finished. We ordered drinks and they came out, but when ordering a second round we were just given cans and no clean glass. They kept coming to the table to lift up cans to see if they were finished and it was quite uncomfortable and felt as though we were being rushed. The food choices were very limited, but what was ordered was beautifully presented. The Lamb Shank was very fatty and I was not able to clean the bone. The accompaniment to the meal was a small potato disc. I understand the feel and style they were going for, but for the price you would think the food would be an excellent quality and would have some other vegetables. The atmosphere was very good in the restaurant. Maybe I just expected more given the glowing reviews along with the prices, but I was left feeling slightly dissatisfied and would hesitate to return.
