The Potted Pig in Cardiff city centre is located in a former bank vault beneath the city, the restaurant and bar shares its passion for modern British food and wonderful wines and gins through ever-changing, seasonal menus and the odd whole suckling pig!

Passionate about good quality local produce and high quality wines, The Potted Pig proudly serves a varied and constantly changing menu of modern British food with Welsh, French and New-York grill inspired influences. The menus are based on food they love cooking and eating rather than a single concept, so you always get a taste of what excites us!

Since opening in 2011, they’ve forged great relationships with some of the finest independent and local suppliers so that they can deliver only the freshest, seasonal flavours to your plate.

The wine and drinks menu has been carefully curated to match each of their dishes and they carry an excellent range of independently sourced wines from all over the world as well as a fantastic array of bottled lagers, ales and ciders. What a lovely cozy restaurant. Our food was super flavourful and perfect size portions, I like my food piping hot which was slightly lacking but that's my personal preference. It was a really busy evening so service was on the slower side but we weren't in a rush so that was ok. Desserts and drinks were delicious. Would definitely return.

I came here for my birthday yesterday and it was such a lovely experience. We ordered from the lunch set menu and we all thought it was great value for money (3 courses for about £30). I’d highly recommend the arancini, slow cooked lamb, and the tiramisu. The service was attentive, warm and friendly. The drinks were lovely too, especially the paloma. I’d very happily come here again.

Fantastic experience. Friendly, helpful staff and a really nice ambiance inside. The menu had a nice range of options without being too overwhelming. I liked the selection of meats available and went for the duck per the hosts’ recommendation. It was delicious and a nice portion where I didn’t leave full or hungry. Lots of savory flavor and not overpowering or gamey. I went on a Tuesday evening and it was very quiet. Would be a perfect date spot.

I was here for a Sunday lunch, I had booked in advance which was very easy and fuss free. I was warmly welcomed and shown to my table. I chose soup of the day which was Parsnip and Ginger. This was delicious the warmth of the ginger rang through it cleanly but in no way overpowering, balanced with the sweet peppery parsnip it was simply a wonderful starter. I chose the belly pork for my main, and personally was not overly impressed. Cooked wonderfully but still seemed bland to me. The veg selection was spot on and of good size, the cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pudding were too much for me to handle, the option to leave those and have extra green veg and root vegetables would have been nice. That might be worth adding to the menu. I finished with a raspberry sorbet which was flavoursome and ideal gentle finish. Service throughout was impeccable, by all the staff I encountered. I am rarely out and about but this place will be somewhere to come back and recommend to others, (I'll order the beef next time for Sunday lunch).

Had a Christmas catch up with the girls and the staff were really accommodating as we'd got to town earlier than planned. The staff were amazing, really friendly and helpful. Charlotte was our waitress. The food was delicious with the only negative that the vegetables could have been cooked a bit longer. This didnt stop us enjoying the whole experience though and would definitely recommend!
