FAQ's

What is it?

Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience combines immersive theatre, virtual reality, augmented reality, holograms and cutting-edge technology, all set to Jeff Wayne's iconic score; giving audiences the chance to live through the Martian invasion of 1898.

Do you need to know the story?

No, not at all! We have designed the experience to be understood and enjoyed by those who don’t know anything about The War of The Worlds.

How long is the experience?

Your experience will last for around 1 hour 50 mins, including a 20 minute interval in The Red Weed Bar. We also have our very own steampunk themed bar - The Spirit of Man, where you can enjoy drinks and delicious meals before and after your experience.

Will it be scary?

Don’t worry, it’s a fun experience and most people don’t find it too scary. There are some surprises, shocks, and moments of suspense but it’s not too scary overall.

What should I wear?

As this is an immersive experience, across two floors, we recommend you wear comfortable clothing and flat trainers or shoes. High heels, flip flops or similar are not suitable and our team reserve the right to refuse entry for health and safety reasons.

What is the minimum age?

The recommended minimum age is 10yrs. Please note that some scenes are very dark with loud noises, which some children may not enjoy. Children aged 10-15yrs will require parental consent via a waiver prior to admission and must be accompanied by an adult 18+ at all times. Under 18s must vacate the main bar area by 8pm.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at least 45 mins before the start time on your tickets (or earlier to enjoy a drink in our steampunk themed bar). This will give you plenty of time to get checked-in, sign the waivers, and store your belongings in a locker (these are free to use). Unfortunately, we are unable to admit latecomers.

This was one of the best things I’ve done in a long time. If you’re a War of the Worlds fan or not, this is a gripping, well presented and fun experience for anyone. It’s like the ‘dungeon’ experiences but times ten! The music, the actors and the VR were absolutely spot on. I look my dad for his 60th, there were 5 of us and we all had an awesome time. 10/10 from us all!

This was amazing. Such a good experience. The actors were brilliant and were really interactive with the audience. Both me and the girlfriend really enjoyed it and we'd definitely do it again if we ever make it back to London.

Being a massive fan of the music seeing this advertised on our trip to London with myself and my partner, saw us attend this experience also with a friend, right from the get go you are amazed even by the decor, as soon as you entered you feel sucked in, not just like some where you are witness to a story, you are totally involved and living through the invasion, HOWEVER the interval and time for a cocktail in the red weed bar, led to something more… my now fiance proposed!!! He tells me that he sent a message and while they received after we had already entered they waited for me to nip to the toilet (also handy to have half way through) to plan letting him know it could be wherever he choose. He proposed in the lounge, what’s next truly got us, while an already immersive experience the actors improvised and adjusted the script to include us even more so, renaming two characters our names and even having a love triangle with another! Including a proposal… sadly that one was not accepted, many congratulations while staying in character the whole time! The ending took us to the photo opportunity, on which we had a photo with our friend, but then a big point was made of having some photos of just us two!! And to end the experience with some fizz! When we exited we were also then treated to a special reserved table with some flowers and a card to ourselves. And all photos taken were sorted out for us to keep! And they also took us back into the lounge with no others there to take some more photos. And a chance to meet some of the cast and have a lovely photo with them. This truly all went above and beyond! And from myself (grace) and Rob we can’t thank you enough! An already amazing experience just even more special and personal, especially with so little time to prepare! Now onto my comments on the experience you will find. We actually purchased the VIP experience as it’s truly worth the money what’s included, the whole immersion was amazing with a mix of VR and involvement from yourself to join in, all the actors were amazing! And played their characters well, like I said before the total improvisation was perfectly in line with their characters and era, but just shows how talented they are! The food was AMAZING! And the cocktails were stunning! Especially the special one in the red weed lounge only available there, don’t let the gin put you off! You can’t taste it!! But the meals were amazing, we were too full for dessert sadly! Maybe too many drinks after the special occasion! But what I truly appreciated was my cocktail with my food the cherry bakewell, I left to have after my food, because of how long this was, they only offered to remake my drink so I could enjoy the full flavour! But I appreciate this is long, thank you all soo much, we will be back! I’m sorry I didn’t get names with everything but the whole crew, and front of house team, bar staff and cooks were amazing! Thank you for making such a special occasion even more special!! I may have e forgotten things as I’m still on cloud 9 but from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!! X

This is a fun immersive experience, and we were lucky to be in a group of only 7 people which avoided it feeling too compressed. The staging is impressive and the actors throw themselves into the roles, with enough humour and character to keep it fun. The VR experiences and decent and add some interest and jump scares as well as adding sci-fi effects. The audio was actually more patchy than the visuals in these and it would have been nice if the briefing had also warned the earpieces can get accidentally tucked up in the headsets. All together, it’s a fun way to pass a couple of hours in the City on a wet day.

I can’t believe the rave this experience gets. I was weary about booking as I couldn’t imagine how good a VR experience could possibly be but was swayed by the outstandingly consistent 5 star reviews this experience had on different platforms. I guess if you’re an ultra fan of TWOTW you could overlook things but if I were a fan, I would be embarrassed. I came in and my hopes were moderate. For the price you pay, I think it’s fair to set a standard of expectations. After you’ve been assigned to a group and have been sent in, there is an introduction. You sit in this cinema room and basically watch a really cringy projection. And that’s basically the whole experience; it’s a rinse and repeat. I genuinely tried to stay positive and give the experience a chance to prove it was worth the price but it just went downhill from there. They just make you travel from room to room where you don’t really do anything. It’s basically a really overvalued museum. The VR scenes are SO outdated, it looks like the graphics were made in 2001. The actors do their job I guess but they ask questions and we don’t really know what to say. I don’t get it, I don’t get the hype, the super positive reviews, none of it. For this price you would expect something like the Harry Potter experience at Warner bros studios (which I even found that to be an okay experience) but no! It was nowhere near as good as even your most basic museum! The acting is okay, kind if GCSE level acting, the script very cringy, this was overall awful. Oh and there is a very unnecessary drink break during the experience. The worst part of all of this was leaving the building and hearing someone from my group saying how much they loved it. This made me realise the reviews are genuine but also very delusional. It looks like the diehard fans of TWOTW are happy to take what they can but for the average person who just wants to enjoy an experience, absolutely poor. Save. Your. Money.
