The hotel was great the only issue we had was some noisy zoo animals (but I'm a light sleeper and it was lovely to hear them). The location was perfect for the zoo and doesn't actually take too long from the city centre or to the airport. Our room was a decent size (family of 4). All the staff were friendly and attentive. There was a craft table for kids in the bar area which was a nice touch. The pool was small (and a little cold for me) but the kids enjoyed it and didn't complain about the temperature. The changing room was clean and had a little machine to spin your swimming stuff to dry it out a bit. Towels are also supplied for the pool. We had some food after being at the zoo all day and it was reasonable. The kids meals were free which was a nice surprise. The Starbucks coffee was also good and there was a nice selection of drinks in the bar. We would go back if we're in the area.

I had a great stay at the Holiday Inn Edinburgh. The location is good, especially for those visiting the zoo or looking for easy access to the city. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the check-in process was smooth. My room was clean, comfortable, and well equipped technology wise. The breakfast had a good variety, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. The reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that when I requested slippers, cotton pads, and Q-tips, I was told they were out of stock. It’s a small detail, but it would have been nice to have these available, especially in a hotel of this standard. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel and would stay here again!

Great reception and service staff. Very helpful and prompt response when contacted after leaving hotel having left valuables in the safe. Had a restful stay. We had breakfast included but found the choice rather limited especially the fresh fruit content was pitiful. Otherwise very happy.

The room that my partner had booked was great, hosting a clean and comfortable, quiet stay. However with our original check-in after being told by one staff member that we had breakfast included for the price of the hotel, we believed this would be fulfilled. The issue at hand was in the way that booking.com had included breakfast in the price as VAT. Be careful when booking as both companies may refuse compensation. Therefore, we did not receive the as promised breakfast. Also, the keycards for the rooms did not work on first attempt.

We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn near the Edinburgh Zoo, and unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations. While the rooms were good and spacious, the overall service and basic amenities left much to be desired. One major issue was the unavailability of complimentary water bottles. We were told water was only available from the restaurant, and it came at a steep price of £5.50 per bottle. Even basic items like glasses for drinking water were chargeable. If we didn’t want to pay, we had to go all the way down to the restaurant, which was quite inconvenient. Additionally, the in-room telephone wasn't working initially, and although it was fixed upon request, it didn't improve things much. Every time we tried to contact room service, the lines were either busy or unanswered. Reception was no better — calls often went unanswered, forcing us to go down in person for any assistance. We’ve previously had a pleasant stay at another Holiday Inn location in Edinburgh, but sadly, this particular branch did not meet the same standards. As a family of three, our two-day stay was not as comfortable or hassle-free as we had hoped.
