Swansea Marina is where you’ll find the Dylan Thomas Centre, a permanent Dylan Thomas exhibition, ‘Love the Words’, opened on Dylan’s 100th birthday, 27 October 2014, with thanks of funding from Heritage Lottery Fund and Swansea Council. This free attraction takes you into the world of one of Wales’ best loved poets.

Explore the interactive displays, listen to recordings and view the different objects on display to gain an insight into the work, life, and cultural context of one of the twentieth century’s most significant writers. The exhibition is family friendly, free, and open Wednesday to Sunday.

The exhibition comprises a main room, a temporary exhibition area which houses changing displays, and a learning space which is open to the public when not in use for workshops.

There’s lots to explore on the interactive Timeline, such as the Children’s Trail which features some of the animals that appear in Dylan’s writing.

Follow the People Trail around the Timeline, too, and discover some of the key people in Dylan’s life, and the rich cultural context in which he lived and worked.

The section in the centre of the exhibition is dedicated to Dylan the writer, and another to Dylan the performer.

There are fun interactives, and touchscreens which tell the story of Dylan’s Notebooks, explore his famous poem ‘Do not go gentle into that good night’ and look at the circumstances surrounding his death.

Listen to Dylan himself, and those who knew him, via the built-in speakers in the chairs.

What a great place. I loved the Chinese Wellbeing Workshop. The host was so warm and helpful. She showed us how to play Chinese board games and served us wonderful green tea too. I highly recommend visiting, even if it's just to go to the 2nd floor to see this wonderful programming.

I grew up in a family who not only loved the poetry and stories written by Dylan Thomas but, who remembered with great affection too his radio broadcasts. I loved as a child growing up being introduced to his poetry and writing. So, it was a dream come true when l first visited this lovely centre when it first opened in 1995 and then to return yesterday, for the second time. For me personally, as an absolute fan of Dylan Thomas, this centre always touches my heart ❤️ in every way. The staff are so very lovely, knowledgeable and welcoming. Thank you so much everyone.

The Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea is a wonderful tribute to the life and work of the famous Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas. Housed in a beautifully restored building, the center offers a fascinating permanent exhibition that explores Thomas's life, works, and influence. The interactive displays and multimedia presentations provide engaging insights into his poetry and prose, making it a great experience for both fans and newcomers to his work. In addition to the exhibition, the center hosts a variety of literary events, readings, and workshops, helping to keep Thomas's legacy alive and vibrant. The staff is helpful. Overall, the Dylan Thomas Centre is a must-visit for literature enthusiasts and anyone interested in Welsh heritage. The entrance is free.

Brilliant (free) exhibition- loads to see & learn. We only had an hour but could easily spend twice that time as there's so much to look at. Friendly & helpful staff too.
