Swansea is the home to one of Wales’ greatest poets, visit The Dylan Thomas Birthplace as it was when he was born and went on the spend twenty three years of his life. It’s where he wrote two-thirds of his work. Experience how this attraction was during this time, how life was growing up in Swansea.
When you walk through the doors of this living museum, you immediately feel an uniquely intimate connection with the life of one of Wales’ greatest poets. In every room you breathe in the spirit of the Edwardian era, when the Thomas family first moved in. Today, it’s a unique leisure destination for private tours, staycation, and dining experience.
The house was opened by Dylan’s daughter Aeronwy Ellis on the 94th anniversary of the poet’s birth in 2008. Former US President Jimmy Carter lends his voice to welcome visitors to the Birthplace, which King Charles III (then Prince Charles) visited in 2012.

With limited opening times its always best to check the website and book tickets in advance. The Dylan Thomas Birthplace is open for visitors every Wednesday and Sunday, 10.30am to 5pm with last entry at 3.30pm.

They may be able to accommodate walk-ins, but it’s always best to book in advance. During your visit you can explore Dylan Thomas Birthplace for as long as you like, visits are at your own pace. However please note that at busy times there may be restrictions to the visiting times. Most visitors stay around 45mins to 1hr 15mins per visit.
You can also visit the House on other days of the week, subject to availability and booking in advance – as they will need to open the Birthplace up for you!
If you arrive without a booking they cannot guarantee you will be able to visit the house. Advance booking is a must to experience this attraction.
