  • City Centre City Centre
  • Restaurant Restaurant

An award winning restaurant in the heart of London. The St James area in the city centre is a hotspot for all tourists, with plenty of things to do and see in the area, Fallow gives you the chance to refuel. Their concept is, ‘Sustainable cooking, creative thinking’ and it shows with the menu.

Fallow was founded by three individuals in May 2019, two chefs Jack Croft and William Murray, and career entrepreneur James Robson. The essence of this combination makes up much of Fallows DNA, where conscious culinary creativity meets hospitality experience and passion.

What followed from this meeting were a series of sold-out residencies to establish Fallow as one of the most exciting restaurant concepts on the UK restaurant scene.

Fallow’s permanent home in St James’s market was established in November 2021 and has since attracted a string of awards including both the Marie Claire and GQ ‘sustainable restaurant of the year’ and the Caterer award for ‘best new restaurant’.

From the moment we stepped inside Fallow, we were made to feel welcome. Tomos was great at recommending certain dishes and was friendly and chatty & ready with info on the dishes without being intrusive, a great asset. I’ve been following Fallow on IG and OH watching the chefs on YouTube so it’s been a place that we’ve wanted to visit for some while. I love seeing the amount of attention that goes into every element of creating a dish. We had the corn ribs which were such a surprise that you’d even do something like this with the humble cob. Beef ribs just melted in yr mouth. The mushroom parfait was as smooth as you like and was rich in flavour. OH chose the venison which was perfectly cooked and I chose the cod head as I like to try things that you would just never see on a menu, huge for 1 person as there was so much tender meat on it. Just wanted to mention that we don’t really like celeriac but thought we’d try the side dish…. My goodness it was bloody gorgeous and would like to creat it at home. Finished off with sharing the Chelsea tart, very sublime and loved the slight sprinkle of salt on the top and the whey ice cream was lovely and creamy. Ameretto sours accompanying an extremely brilliant evenings food. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

Visited for brunch at the chef's counter on New Year's. First of all, food was amazing! We had the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, mushrooms on toast, banana bread with bacon, and hash browns, with cookie dough and ice cream for dessert. Simple dishes you'd think, but the quality made them stand out! The scrambled eggs were silky and creamy (smoked salmon was bog standard but tbf it wasn't meant to be the star, just a good sidekick), the mushrooms were juicy and had a lovely unique umami flavour I couldn't quite pin down, and the portions for both were very very generous. Hash browns were perfectly crunchy outside and fluffy potato inside (not a fan of the walnut ketchup but my partner got seconds so to each their own). My favourite though was the banana bread, again very generously heaped with whipped mascarpone (not oily and not too sweet as some creams are, but rich and fluffy) and caramelised almond flakes which added the best sugary crunch! Close second fave (I'm a sweets person tbh) was the truffle cookie dough soft serve we got for dessert. Wasn't quite sure if the truffle would work in a sweet dessert at first, but my doubts were unfounded, the combination taste was unexpectedly perfect! Our server Stan was also lovely, very friendly, checked up on us without making us feel rushed and answered questions about the food without making us feel dumb! Overall restaurant atmosphere was also a great balance of cosy/intimate and lively/bustling without feeling too crowded. Counter seats were great fun for watching the kitchen staff bring all the dishes together, if that's your vibe! Overall a great experience and will definitely be back for their main lunch/dinner menu. We watched dozens of mushroom parfaits being made and can't wait to try that first thing!

I have never so willingly paid for service charge to a more deserving group of staff. Each interaction - the server, runner, sommelier and mâitre d’ - was faultless. The wine recommendation to go with our eclectic food selection was superb. I dined with my 3 year old and she loved the grilled fish with chips from the children’s menu. I had the corn ribs, smoked beef ribs, tandoori cauliflower, mushroom parfait and chips. We were also given complimentary waffles. Every single dish was full of flavour. I particularly loved the open kitchen concept, which was visible from almost all seats within the restaurant. I have recommended this restaurant to friends and family, and would personally go back again to try the Chef’s Counter. Does get very busy so best to book a table. This restaurant gets an all round 10/10 from me!

OMG This place is amazing. I've followed the guys on YouTube for quite some time and my wife surprised me with an impromptu visit for my 50th. Wow, everything was even better than I thought it could be. The welcome was warm, the atmosphere was buzzy and I loved the open kitchen, service was exceptional throughout. We shared the pork pie, beef ribs and corn ribs as starters, all with their own unique excellence. I don't know how they manage to make the beef ribs taste so beefy (sounds daft doesn't it) and the meat just slid off the bones. For mains, my wife had the lamb and I the venison, we also had sides of leeks and celeriac. Everything was cooked to perfection. We had passed on puddings but was bought a complimentary portion of soft serve ice cream for my birthday, how sweet. Another delicious thing to eat, neither of us could quite place the flavour so we asked the waitress who informed us that it was truffle - amazing. I can't wait to go back as I would love to work my way through the menu, the cods head is surely an experience in itself. Keep it up Fallow, credit to all of you.

Firstly, the service was great! Both our first server and others were informed of my friend’s allergies and were helpful in demonstrating what meals were suitable based on it. They remained attentive throughout service. The banana bread was crispy on the edges and soft in the middle with the whipped mascarpone adding a perfect sweetness. They helpfully kept the toasted almonds to the side so my friend could try it. The hash browns were again a lovely balance of crispy and soft, I found the walnut ketchup to be a great accompaniment. Again, staff made sure to remind us that this condiment had nuts in so my friend could make sure she avoided it. The main less positive aspect of this experience was that the remainder of the food was more lukewarm than hot. The croissant was made soggy by the Hollandaise sauce and lacked a general flaky crispness. The dish (steak royal croissant roll) in general seemed one note. The scrambled eggs were cooked well but didn’t have much seasoning and the sriracha was lacklustre, I also personally thought a few slices of smoked salmon for an extra £11 was a little steep. Towards the end of our meal we did feel somewhat rushed by staff, our bill was given to us without asking and a good 30 minutes before the designated reservation slot was finished and contained some items we had not ordered. This, however, was quickly rectified. Overall, I wouldn’t come back to Fallow for breakfast or brunch, nor would I be too keen to come back and try lunch/dinner; a shame because it is a place that often seems to come up when asking for recommendations.
