This is the third time my husband and I have stayed at this fabulous hotel, and on this visit our room was upgraded to the Gilbert Suite. Every room in both the main hotel and the annex is comfortable and pleasant, but the suite truly left us speechless. It is grand, elegant, and perfectly situated above the hustle and bustle of the 9th Harrow Whisky Festival, which is the reason for our stay. The buffet breakfast also deserves special mention — not only for its generous variety, but for its superb quality. The hotel grounds are absolutely breathtaking, and if you enjoy walking through gardens and surrounding woodland, you could easily spend an entire afternoon exploring. There is even a nearby clearing with a wonderful view of London city. This hotel truly deserves five-star status (rather than four) for the grounds and the exceptionally hospitable staff alone. Thank you, Robin, for yet another wonderful and memorable experience at the annual whisky festival and banquet. See you next year, Mike Walker and Zita Reszler

This was a lovely stay. My daughter got married nearby but we spent the wedding night here. Rooms were beautiful. They organised a private breakfast for us as so many stayed, I can honestly say the cooked breakfast was the best I ever had!

beautiful place, when events are on downstairs in the main building, the room did become noisy, had singers on, they were great, but after a long hard day i just wanted to relax and have an early night, when i first arrived there was another event on, which meant i could not access the main building stairwell and I had to climb a fire escape stairway (very thin, winding and metal) with luggage and bags to find my room, at the entrance via the fire escape door which was a big step drop, down on the stairs! this was not very accessible, on the second evening I had an unexpected visitor, a staff member entered my room with a key, shocked to see me sat there, explaining oh I thought this room was empty? lovely hotel, beautiful location just seemed a little bit chaotic on this visit!

Having celebrated our wedding reception at Grims Dyke in 1994 it seemed a good idea to stay at the hotel as we met up with family and friends. Unfortunately our room was not afforded the privacy we’d expected with a path passing directly behind our French Window Doors which had no net curtains. A simple scrambled egg breakfast was not at all nice however the staff were excellent and our evening meal in the restaurant was exceptionally good.

Truly awful experience. So noisy, I had very little sleep. Stayed on a Saturday night. Felt so exhausted on Sunday, cancelled all my plans and returned home, totally ruining the weekend. The room was a “Garden Room”. Tired and shabby looking, paint peeling, carpet threadbare in places and shower curtain broken. Worse of all sleep deprivation from the constant banging of doors and people talking in the common ways. I have stayed in the main part of the hotel on a number of occasions. I loved the location and the grounds. The food was always good. Not on this occasion. Buffet breakfast and very unloved food. Staff as always, helpful and friendly but unfortunately over this weekend overwhelmed. May have been my tiredness but I could barely face the breakfast. The food was substandard and coffee, served cold, tasted like it had been sitting there for an hour. Lack of sleep ruined everything, probably would have put up with everything else on this occasion.
