London’s Maison François restaurant is open till midnight most days. Located in the city centre and surrounded by most of London’s tourist attractions, Maison François is an upmarket bistro offering classic French cuisine in a chic setting with an added bonus of a basement wine bar.

From dawn to dusk, and all through the night, their teams are working hard to ensure every one of the guests can enjoy the best experience possible.

The bustle of the morning preparations, the stoves lit and ovens roaring, the pastry chefs crafting elaborate concoctions, coffee brewing, waiters twirling, phones ringing, chefs searing and grilling, trolleys wheeling, fresh produce landing, wine pouring, and customers arriving from left and right, in a theatre of the senses and delight.

A modern approach, with a nod to the past.

Reservations are taken for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Maison François two months in advance. For parties of six or more please contact the restaurant directly.

We do not take bookings for the terrace or Franks bar.

Frank’s Deli & Bar à vin.

Delicious evening at Maison Francois. Pre dinner drinks at Franks Bar downstairs felt so chic, I had the Martini of Decadence which was perfectly oniony and my partner and I shared some saucisson. The best bar snack in my opinion. The bar staff were attentive and friendly enough. Sitting at the bar feels like the right way to start a special dinner. A treat I think I lost in Covid, vowing to bring this back. We really overindulged with dinner (it was our anniversary) so shared the steak tartare with bone marrow and the burrata with anchovies (not pictured as eaten too quickly), the theatrics of making the steak tartare à la minute felt super special and it was nice to be able to tailor preferences, more spicky or more capery. I want more burrata and anchovies. We shared the chateaubriand we asked for chef suggestion for cooking and it came medium rare - which was perfect. The red wine jus was so delicious, I’m so used to steak just sitting on a plate with nothing else, so to come with juices for extra dipping choices for the chips was a treat. We didn’t have pudding although I wish I did, we did try their three cheese on offer, the blue and the soft cheese were delicious. I could take or leave the Comté but I think it was just underwhelming after the delicious textures of the other food. Delicious wine. Attentive service. A great institution that brings French food to St James’. I will be back and I will think of this food daily till I return.

My partner and I were celebrating our Valentine’s dinner here. Food was classical French that served with precision. The atmosphere was delightful and demure. Staff were polite and helpful, attentive to details. We had four starter and two main course dishes that really impressed us and desserts came in by a trolley in the end. Really please with the team and restaurant. We also went downstairs which is Frank’s bar to enjoy some cocktails. There’s a DJ called Danica Hunter that kept playing soulful and Rnb music that kept my partner dancing all night. The atmosphere and the music were really bespoke. It was a fantastic night we had. Highly recommended

What a wonderfully indulgent place to dine! Had a beautiful feast here last week during lunchtime and it was surprisingly busy given it was a Tuesday. We ordered a variety of dishes including the steak tartare on bone marrow (which was made to order and delicious) and a pastry covered creamy snail stew which was fantastic. For mains, our party had ordered the bavette which got a lot of approvals, the sea bass which was beautifully cooked and the Caesar salad which was some lettuce that came with cheese (they have their priorities straight when it comes to salads). My friend also ordered some chicken on the side to go with it. Would definitely recommend dining here, it was fabulous. And what was also intriguing was that they had a deli counter open downstairs for to-go lunch options which also looked great. Would love to come back and try that too.

All pretty good, just a bit overpriced. Probably largely down to the fact it’s located in a swanky part of town. To be fair, the French onion soup starter was fantastic and would’ve probably been large enough to avoid me needing a main. Being the pig I am though, I felt it necessary to try the rotisserie chicken. At £32 for a half, plus £6 for fries made a chicken & chip lunch £40 inc. service. Good but definitely not worth the money. Staff were fairly pleasant. Lighting was maybe a little bright, but it was a late lunch so I guess it can’t be too gloomy in there otherwise I’d have been asleep after 2 glasses of Chablis. Overall I enjoyed but wouldn’t race back

My friend and I recently dined at Maison Francois for lunch. It was a Saturday afternoon, so fairly busy. The initial service from the host was unfortunately not the warmest. I’m pleased to say the waiters and bar staff were all fantastic! I had the steak frites from the (horrendously named) Budget Buster menu. I asked for medium rare but the steak was definitely more towards the rare side. The end pieces were cooked to perfection, perhaps more uniform thickness of the meat would ensure it was more evenly cooked. I had a glass of the house red which was great. However the carafe pricing needs amending. There’s little to no saving based on the price per glass, from a customer pov there’s no incentive to buy the wine in higher volume. The pear and Disaronno sorbet for dessert was sensational! Minor tweaks could turn a 4 star into a 5 star dining experience, but on this occasion however it just missed the mark.
