Found in the beautiful Cardiff Bay area of the city, The Makers Guild in Wales is a national applied art and craft membership organisation. The organisation exists to engage and inspire audiences as a centre of excellence for Craft and Applied Art, and to champion Welsh Craft Makers. The award winning gallery, Craft in the Bay is located on the “Flourish” in Cardiff Bay, opposite Wales Millennium Centre and close to the iconic Senedd Building. If you want to do a bit of shopping on your trip and pick up something unique from your stay in Cardiff, then buy something from Wales, that’s made in Wales by Welsh people.
A unique Craft Organisation, they champion Welsh craft makers, by engaging with and inspiring audiences to learn about craft, through craft demonstrations workshops and community engagement programmes. The Makers Guild in Wales was set up as a volunteer led Maker Co-operative in 1984, and still values that ethos.
Makers are spread all over Wales but The Makers Guild in Wales’ home is the unique Landmark Heritage building, Craft in the Bay, in Cardiff.
The Guild inspires engagement and learning about contemporary craft, by providing opportunities for audiences and artists to experience contemporary applied art and craft in Wales. The Guild is a membership organisation of Welsh craft-makers who all share in the Guilds strong co-operative ethos. Championing high quality hand-made crafts and applied art in Wales both of its members work and of invited National and International Artists and Makers.
