Mowgli Oxford

I loved my first experience with Mowgli Oxford. Our server was very softly spoken which was difficult since I’m rather deaf but he was just shy and quite sweet - and his service was efficient and good. I fell in love with the atmosphere - lights everywhere and very evocative; it was very beautiful. We had the special menu - the sharer deal for two. It comes with the yoghurt bombs (amazing) and something else which escapes my memory; but everything was delicious. We opted for the black dhal (exceptional and insanely moreish), the prawn curry and the goan fish curry which was both delicious. It also came with rice, two flatbreads and ice cream. Everything was so delicious and some really innovative and surprising tastes - all welcome surprises, not unnerving ones! Very much looking forward to our next jaunt here.

The decor was nice, the food was good but I have a few suggestions. Lower the amount of cinnamon in the paneer dish, cook the garlic and coriander paratha till brown, and preheating the cup with hot water will keep the chai latte extra hot (we asked for extra hot but it was lukewarm). Additionally, the £1 donation to a charity on the bill and the 10% service charge could have been optional. Nevertheless, I shall definitely visit again. And yes, I love the passport.

Service was great and the place was pretty & well-kept. Small plates - wish we’d of known how little they were as to order more, we left kinda hungry 😂 Lovely nonetheless though, super tasty & fresh! Would recommend chat bombs.

I’ve been to Mowgli before for breakfast but one of the London stores and I loved it. I thought returning was a no brainer but it was the service I was expecting. Firstly the food tasted delicious but the portion sizes are a bit of a let down. Would have preferred maybe a bit more for the price we were paying. What really let it down was the service. The manager on duty on the 30/12 evening was clearly in a bad mood. We initially turned up at 1800 to be told there was absolutely no seating for tonight. I managed to book online for 1845 and subsequently turned up at 1830 and was sat immediately. There was a walk in of 4 behind us which immediately got sat as well, clearly there was plenty of availability. After that the service was pretty lack luster, I had to call someone over every time to get anything done. All in all the food quality is great but let down but the staff mainly the manager and the small portions. I probably wouldn’t come to the Oxford store again and stick to the London branches.

Let's start with positives; the team is great, super polite, helpful, service was quick. The decor in restaurant is cute, with wood everywhere and twinkle lights. Negatives...the food was extremly dissapointing. I love Indian food, travelled to India multiple times and what we were served was lacking seasoning and flavour. The potatoe curry tasted like boiled potatoes covered in canned tomatoes and re-heated. Dahl and butter chicken were average the best. The chat bombs and fenugreek fries were nice.
