We got there a little close to closing but we flew through the exhibits! It was so nice to see so many art works that I knew from art history or just because of their cultural significance. Would definitely recommend going with more time than you’d expect to need!

An incomparable collection of artistic masterpieces, sympathetically displayed in light and airy galleries, with informative descriptive panels. The staff are well-informed, friendly and helpful. The Gallery as a whole seems to cope with large numbers of visitors with ease (so much better than other museums and galleries in London), and with no detriment to the visitor experience. It was a pleasure to return after not visiting for a while. You can get an overview of Art history, focus on a particular time period, style or artist, or just immerse yourself in your favourite painting (or discover a new one).

Visiting the National Gallery in London was an extraordinary experience. The gallery's building, with its classical architecture and majestic columns located in Trafalgar Square, exudes a unique and grand charm. The interior space, enhanced by appropriate lighting and spacious halls, evokes a sense of tranquility and deep respect for art. During my visit, I explored several different exhibitions. Each of these exhibitions showcased remarkable artworks that captured my attention. The displayed works were highly diverse, encompassing a blend of styles and various artistic periods. Viewing these beautiful pieces provided an inspiring and unforgettable experience. The National Gallery in London is a place that every art enthusiast should visit at least once. Its inspiring atmosphere and valuable artworks create a lasting impression in the minds of all visitors.

A real national treasure full of national treasures. Rather crowded when we went but it was the start of the holiday season. Thoroughly recommended for a quiet, reflective couple of hours (minimum). If we didn't need to be elsewhere we could have been there all day

The National Gallery is truly one of London’s crown jewels. Located right in Trafalgar Square, it’s home to an incredible collection of paintings that span centuries, from the early Renaissance to the Impressionists and beyond. And amazingly, entry to the main collection is completely free! Walking through the grand halls, you get to see masterpieces from legends like Van Gogh, Monet, Rembrandt, Turner, Botticelli, and so many more. Each room feels like stepping into a different era of art history, and the layout makes it easy to wander, discover, and lose track of time. The building itself is stunning, both outside and inside, with beautiful architecture and plenty of places to sit and reflect. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to help if you’re looking for a specific painting or artist. The National Gallery also offers excellent temporary exhibitions (some ticketed), and their gift shop and cafes are well worth a stop. It's a wonderful experience whether you're an art lover or just curious about seeing some of the most famous paintings in the world up close. If you’re in London, visiting The National Gallery is absolutely essential — inspiring, calming, and unforgettable.
