I had a great five-day stay here. The staff was very kind and efficient. Their breakfast spread is excellent and definitely worth the add on. Only 20ish minute walk from city center and right by a bus stop!

Quiet suburban location but walkable to city centre. Free on street parking. Clean rooms in good condition. Buffet breakfast of good variety. A well managed establishment.

The rooms were quite clean, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. Although the bathroom was a bit small, it was a good value for the price. Please be aware that there is an additional charge for parking, which is available both in front and at the back of the hotel. It's a five-minute walk from the bus stop, and then four stops into Oxford. Location 5 star.

Pros: Great price, we got a room with one double bed for £160 for two nights but then somehow got upgraded to a room with two double beds but no one mentioned any upgrading we just got in the room and there were two beds. The location is great, it’s within walking distance to a lot of things. Cons: There was black mould in the shower and weird dirty stains around the room. There were lots of food stains on the legs of the coffee table and under it. The two nights we were there it was really really difficult to sleep due to weird noises that kept occurring that me and my boyfriend couldn’t describe, it was the strangest noise we’ve ever heard but the frequency/pitch was at the perfect level to keep waking us up. This happened maybe 6 times the first night and 4 times the second night. It was like humming almost but it didn’t quite sound mechanical or human so not sure what it was, it was unlike anything I’ve ever heard and it was loud. We told the receptionist at the hotel and he said “I don’t know anything about that.” I thought that was a strange response. He was very unhelpful and did not provide any kind of solution or curiosity or investigation. Furthermore the tap water smells like chlorine and the plumbing is old and not great. Also the wifi is terrible and kept cutting out but there’s also hardly any cell service at the hotel so if you need to do any kind of work during your time here, then just simply don’t stay here. I saw other bad reviews about the wifi and saw the hotel responded and said they’d look into it or solve it but obviously they just simply don’t care. The doors to the rooms are really thin and there were big gaps under the door so we could hear anything going on in the hallway. The reading lights are jarring and there are no outlets by the bed. Also I’m unsure if there are lifts at the hotel, we had to take the stairs with our suitcases which was fine but could be concerning for someone physically disabled.

Many of the staff are really fantastic and lovely but some are downright rude straight out of the gate. Despite some reviews here, we found the evening food to be good - equivalent to a decent pub. Breakfasts were largely flavourless. The rooms and general state of the hotel were pretty dire - stained and rumpled carpets, lowest quality bathroom fittings, large chunks of bathroom caulking missing, broken window locks, reading lights that don’t work, etc. How they got an Eco/Green award is beyond me - loads of single use plastics (toothbrushes, tiny toothpaste tubes, cheapest possible plastic-wrapped plastic water cups), and they take towels regardless of where they are left. Even the fake plastic plants and flowers looked like they hadn’t been watered, with clumps of “dead” leaves in the plant pots and coffee stains on flower petals! Again, some really great staff here but Best Western really needs to spend some money on the place.
