Experience Cardiff from a different perspective with a climb to the roof of Principality Stadium and be prepared to be amazed by the city’s breathtaking skyline. As you reach the top of one of Wales’ top attractions you’ll traverse the roof’s edge whilst taking-in a bird’s eye view of the pitch and 75,000-seater stadium below.

Why not add to your adventure by scaling the Stadium’s mast and whooshing through the air on a zip wire across the canopy – not for the faint-hearted!

Or, finally, descend back to earth via ‘The Drop’, if you dare!

What is SCALE and What can I expect on the day?

SCALE is an exciting new aerial adventure in the heart of Cardiff’s City centre on the roof of the Principality Stadium.

THE CLIMB – The adventure starts with the CLIMB. This is the main element of SCALE, and everyone is required to undertake the CLIMB to get to the roof. It comprises of a steady walk up 200 standard size steps to the roof’s canopy. You will be escorted on a bespoke walkway around the west side of the roof, take a gentle sloped climb over the stadium ARCH (the backbone of the stadium), and then out across the SPIRE 35m high above the River Taff. Time will then be given on the main viewing platform to take in the views of the city, the Brecon Beacons and Welsh Coastline, before heading along the stadium EDGE, and back down to Basecamp. Throughout your experience your Climb Guide will relay facts and information about the stadium and the surrounding area and be on hand to ensure your safety and that you have a great experience. Please allow approx. 90minutes for the CLIMB from check in to when you leave; However, it can take slightly longer or shorter depending on the size and agility of the tour group.

THE EXTRAS – the ZIP & the DROP: (add 30mins per experience to your tour time) To extend your experience there are a further two exhilarating elements to SCALE which are designed to ignite your sense of adventure! Neither is compulsory, and you may choose to add both experiences or just one preferred option.

THE ZIP – After completing the CLIMB you will ascend a further 5 flights of “ships ladder” style stairs to the Crow’s Nest 60m above pitch level, where you will take in extensive elevated views of Cardiff and the surrounding skyline. The ZIP is a zipwire that allows you to fly 170m across the canopy of the stadium roof from south to north, traveling at approximately 27mph.

THE DROP – This is a 30m drop abseil experience which descends from the Viewing Platform back down to ground level. It is always the last part of SCALE and is a far more exhilarating way to get back down than taking the 200 stairs!

PHOTOGRAPHS AND MERCHANDISE. We have fixed cameras on the roof which will capture your experience should you wish to purchase them, and SCALE merchandise can be purchased in Basecamp.

Please note: Every adventure must include the CLIMB. Once you have added your climb to the basket, you will be taken to the ‘add-ons’ page where you will be able to book your zip and drop.

I was here for the Lana Del Rey concert. I'm originally from Germany. The stadium is really beautiful. I felt very safe at all times. There were friendly staff everywhere who helped you. It took about 30 minutes to get into the stadium, which I think is a reasonable time. Especially when you consider all the crowds. In the stadium itself, you have the opportunity to buy drinks and food in many different places. The queues there were absolutely reasonable. I never had to wait longer than 5 minutes. There were plenty of toilets and the staff pointed out where there were no queues. Overall, it was a great experience for me. I would definitely come to Cardiff again for a concert. Generally people of Cardiff were very sweet and warm-hearted. A big thank you and compliments to all the security staff and employees, especially at gate 5, M19 🫶🏻

'Breezy' descends on Principality Stadium, Cardiff. I went to watch Chris Brown Live at this venue on 19/06/25, What a performance and venue. The Millennium Stadium, known since 2016 as the Principality Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is the national stadium of Wales. Located in Cardiff, it has a retractable roof and is the home of the Wales national rugby union team; it has also held Wales national football team games.

Well organised stadium staff plenty of food and drink and fantastic experience with daughter and grandson who was amazed by the whole experience. We watched Bristol Bears play Bath there, and bears won 36 to 14. That was a great game partly because our team won on the day.

One of the most amazing stadiums I have ever been to. The stadium itself is stunning, it's nicely situated along the river and also in the middle of Cardiff. There were plenty of food stalls, beer stalls and bathrooms. They somehow ran out of beer in some of the stands around 60 mins into the game. I watched the champions cup final, Bordeaux Vs Northampton.

Good location for a major sports venue with city centre and train station close by. Seats and view of pitch are pretty decent. Good atmosphere with roof closed. Catering facilities have limited choices and toilet queues do get long.
