Thaikhun is Oxford’s Thailand inspired restaurant. The city centre location is ideally located in the city centre on George Street and close to Oxford’s attractions. A colourful Thai eatery that is a delight on the eyes as well as on the tongue.

Thaikhun, pronounced tycoon, means “your” Thai restaurant. Bursting at the seams with hand-picked Thai deco, authentic Thai street food and Thai inspired cocktails, every Thaikhun takes you on a journey across the world to Khao San Road.

Every recipe on the menu is found at real Thai street vendors. Every trinket comes from a very top-secret Bangkok bazaar. They are proud to be Thai, and to introduce their favourite flavours to the people of Britain to try. It’s your window into Thailand.

Oxford’s Thaikhun is located on George street, a large but friendly restaurant with loads of personality! With eccentric bric a brac hand selected from Thailand it certainly keeps your eyes busy whilst you are trying their delicious Thai food!

Look out for the boat hanging from the ceiling or the famous converted bath seat. Don’t forget to spot the tuk tuk just inside by the bar.

The menu features classic Thai dishes, vegan options and some modern twists.

I really loved this place! A lot of Thai decor which adds to the authenticity. The food is also amazing, very authentic, flavorful and filling (I got the red curry with chicken). What I also loved is that they put an exact amount of rice for the curry, I didn’t need to ask for more, I even had a bit of leftover rice after I finished the curry. Highly recommend this restaurant!

I visited Thaikun with my partner and we had an amazing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm, vibrant, and full of character, instantly making us feel welcome. The service was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and perfectly timed. For starters, we enjoyed the vegetarian spring rolls and vegan papaya salad, both bursting with freshness and authentic Thai flavours. For our mains, we had the vegetarian tofu Pad Thai and the vegetable Thai green curry with jasmine rice — the Pad Thai was perfectly balanced and full of texture, while the green curry was rich, aromatic, and comforting. To accompany our meal, we ordered the Red Assam Thai Tea and the Green Jasmine Thai Tea. Both were beautifully presented in chilled mason jars with whipped cream on top — the Red Assam was bold and smooth, while the Green Jasmine was fragrant and refreshing. Everything from the food to the service and ambience was exceptional. It was a truly memorable evening and we’ll definitely be returning!

Very good food although the portions are on the lighter side unfortunately. Staff is kind but service can seem a bit slow even when the restaurant is not fully booked. Large selection of vegetarian and vegan options considering the menu. Overall, I would recommend for a casual lunch considering the prices. Student discount is also available.

Love the Thai decor and ambience. It gives the feeling and vibe on walking in a Thai street food market. Our waitress was super friendly and gave good recommendations on what dishes are quite authentic tasting. We followed her recommendations and weren’t disappointed. The basil stir fried rice with pork belly topped with a fried egg was my favorite.

We came to ThaiKhun because of its decoration, we instantly thought we were in Thailand. From graffiti-covered walls to traditional decorations, the atmosphere felt authentic and immersive. For our meal, we ordered sweet and sour chicken with sticky rice, served in a traditional Thai basket. The rice was incredibly sticky, and once mixed with the sweet and sour sauce, every bite was packed with creamy, tangy goodness. The chicken had a slight crunch, and the glaze added the perfect finishing touch. We also tried the Pad Thai, which was flavorful and well-balanced, with perfectly cooked noodles that tasted truly authentic. To drink, I had a Lucky Saint—my first time trying an English beer. It was light, crisp, and refreshing, giving the full taste of a real beer despite being low in alcohol content. For dessert, we had fried banana with vanilla ice cream. The combination was so smooth and well-blended that at times, it felt like eating banana-flavored ice cream. Overall, ThaiKhun delivered a fantastic experience. The service was good, though you’ll need a bit of patience. If I ever find myself in Oxford again, I’d definitely return. Highly recommended!
