This is a stylish canalside hub that blends shopping, dining, leisure, and workspaces in the heart of the city. Once a Royal Mail sorting office, it now houses high-end stores like Harvey Nichols, the boutique Everyman Cinema, and the chic Malmaison Hotel. The BBC studios add prestige, while restaurants and cafés along the water create a relaxed, atmospheric vibe. Its sleek, contemporary design feels clean and welcoming, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The canalside views are especially memorable at night or during events. Whether for shopping, dining, or a hotel stay, the Mailbox offers something for everyone. It stands out as one of Birmingham’s most distinctive and elegant destinations.

It is a lovely place with an enticing choice of cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed a coffee and toasties at the Black Sheep cafe. Advertised as 'coffee not just for girls'. It was a lovely tasty blend. It was very nice. Lovely service and plenty of seating .

The Mailbox Birmingham is a great place to visit, offering a stylish mix of shops, restaurants, and relaxing spaces along the canal. The atmosphere is modern and vibrant, and it’s always clean and well-kept. Whether you’re coming for a meal, shopping, or just enjoying a walk by the water, it feels like a welcoming spot with plenty to do. The location is convenient, and there’s always something new to discover. A lovely area to spend time in the city.

Such a lovely spot with a great mix of cafés and restaurants to choose from. We stopped by the Black Sheep Café for coffee and toasties — their slogan, “coffee not just for girls,” made us smile. The coffee was delicious, really nice flavour, and the food hit the spot too. Friendly service and plenty of seating made it an easy, relaxed stop.

Disappointed after the hype of reading about it . Glossy cover but shabby around the edges . Grubby in the corners a bit like Malmaison next door . I can see it was a "to go to " venue in the 90s but now a bit of a tribute band on a off day . Surprised to walk around canal complex then into The mailbox to the aroma of urine and weed brought an instant downer on a special day . As did the check in process at Malmaison ( reading the review). Anyway cutting to the chase Brindley Place was nice canal walk lovely, Mailbox and hotel both overhyped and it will be an effort to return. We will to report any improvement or decline but not rushing back for a year or so .
