Good staff and good breakfast Excellent location and even a better service by the staff. VINEETH and his colleague on reception were excellent. Also the BREAKFAST was really good. The rooms are a bit old here, especially the bath tub. We found hair lying in the bath not cleaned and also wrappers on the room floor. But the best part is when we contacted the reception to inform about this an immediate action was taken and we were given a room change with a free upgrade. I think the 5 stars in the review is for the hospitality by the receptionist which made the stay comfortable and relaxing.

I stay at the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre often for work, and it’s always a great experience. Perfect location next to New Street Station and rooms with everything you need. What really sets this hotel apart is the staff — they make you feel at home, a skill that’s rare in a big hotel. Special thanks to the food and beverage team: Lucy, Elaine, Alex, Shesh, Neda, Patricia, Anna, and Ashley — who always go above and beyond. Highly recommend for a welcoming and convenient stay in Birmingham!

Stayed 1 night here on business. Great location right by New Street station. Efficient check in (and check out) in the large and clean lobby. Room was bright and clean with a large TV. Very clean bathroom with spare towels and soap/shampoo etc. No real view but didn't bother me. Breakfast buffet is lovely and varied but quite steeply priced for what it is (you'd have to eat a lot to make it work!). Ultimately the restaurant is convenient though with friendly staff. I didn't go to the bar or restaurant in the evening but it was well staffed and plenty of people visiting.

Fantastic location. Close to Grand Central and Bullring. Room was a good size, comfortable bed and pillows. However the room was extremely noisy. I appreciate it is a city centre hotel and some noise is to be expected. However, the windows didn't close properly and the double glazing was inadequate to block out the noise. Neither the AC or heating were working on a chilly evening. My other complaint is the service at breakfast. The majority of the tables were unavailable. A good proportion being reserved. Hmmmm not sure that's right. We're all paying for our stay and breakfast. Then a good proportion of the tables were not cleared and dirty. We had to sit in the lobby area. Near a door which was constantly opened by staff bringing in cold air from outside. We are unlikely to return.

The primary strength of this hotel is its unbeatable location, situated directly in the city centre and adjacent to the Bullring and Grand Central Station. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was inconsistent. The check-in process was chaotic and inefficient, suggesting a clear lack of staffing to manage peak times at reception. The guest list was apparently not updated, resulting in confusion and delays as staff struggled to locate reservations for several people. The rooms themselves are perfectly basic and functional, meeting minimal requirements, but they offer no extras like a mini-fridge or complimentary bottled water. Comfort was also an issue; noise levels were poor, as voices and activity from the corridor were clearly audible inside the room. For amenities, the self-parking situation is secure and spacious, located in the adjoining NCP multi-storey car park (paid via the hotel), but it comes at a premium of £13.50 per day. The quality of the included breakfast was only mediocre, and the food itself was quite disappointing. Ultimately, the hotel’s main value proposition is purely its proximity to the city's key transport and shopping hubs.
