Very warm welcome from all the staff. Huge, very comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom a little dated but the shower was powerful and great hot water. Fan in room was great as it was a warm night. Food and drinks at the bar/restaurant were excellent, plenty of choice and good value. Lively atmosphere on a Friday night. Great location, 10 mins from Birmingham airport. Easy to find and free parking (register car number plate inside bar/hotel). Would definitely stay again if flying from Birmingham or in the area.

We got a last minute deal which was what I expected to pay. Without the deal I thought it overpriced. It needs some maintenance and tlc. The room was a nice size but the heating was a little on the cold side. Bed was beautiful and the pillows fantastic (couldn't identify the brand or manufacturer, would love to purchase some for home). It was a little noisy from the function room and the outside area but this was Christmas party week. Check in perfect with the staff giving us lots of information about the hotel, restaurant and the high street. She even apologised about the expected evening nois and how busy the carpark was and as she was just about to finish she would wait so we could have her space. We didn't need it. Would we stop here again, the answer is yes but only if we manage to get a late deal. Incidentally we got a better price from Booking.com than that quoted directly.

My room (room 5) suffered from the noise of the kitchen extractor fan which comes on intermittently through the night. As they were fully booked they were unable to move me but the staff were extremely understanding and compensated me for the inconvenience the next day. Overall a really friendly hotel - if you know you will struggle to sleep with background noise maybe request not to be given room 5 whrn you book.

The hotel itself is ok with a bit of outdated rooms that could do with a freshen up. The windows are not double glazed so can get a little bit cool but for one night it’s fine. I might have given the hotel more if I wasn’t faced to watching GB news with my breakfast which I can say presents a very strong message of the far right. The BBC is a safer bet for future.

We travelled 5 hours from Cornwall to stay here for a weekend away and to attend an event at the NEC. The website photos looked great and the rooms appeared modern and comfortable, so we booked a double room feeling excited for a relaxing break. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill very quickly. Upon arrival, reception was friendly and welcoming. However, when we got to our room, we discovered it had two single beds instead of the double we had booked. After returning to reception, we were moved to a different room… only to find it was just two single beds pushed together. The room itself was extremely dated and felt dirty. There were marks all over the doors and walls and paint peeling off — definitely not what we expected given how the hotel is advertised. Being tired from travelling, we decided not to attempt another room change. The disappointment continued when we tried to shower — the over-bath setup was quite grim, and the bath filled up while using it as the water wasn’t draining properly. Day 2 started well with a great day out at the NEC, and we had booked a table online at the hotel restaurant for the evening. When we arrived, we were told there was no record of our booking. They tried to squeeze in a tiny table in the bar area right in front of the main door. The manager did apologise and offer a free drink, but by that point we were too fed up and just went back to our room. This weekend away was supposed to be a rare break for us — kid-free, Christmas shopping, and a chance to relax. Instead, we’ve ended up disappointed and frustrated, looking forward to going home. We genuinely feel like we wasted our hard-earned money on a hotel that simply doesn’t meet the standard it advertises. We would have been better off booking a budget Travelodge and saving ourselves the extra expense. Definitely wouldn’t stay here again.
