Our gorgeous, landmark Birmingham hotel was originally opened by Isaac Horton back in 1879 to designs by Thomson Plevins.  Since then, it’s welcomed royalty and rock stars and has been a hub in the city for meetings and networking as well as incredible events in our breath-taking Grand Ballroom.

Following a £50 million restoration and refurbishment, Birmingham’s original grande-dame hotel re-opened having been closed for almost 20 years. As the latest chapter in our history takes shape, we hope you will be a part of it, whether you are staying at the hotel, eating and drinking in our bars and restaurant, organising a meeting, or attending an event.

BEDROOMS & SUITES

From grand double and grand twin rooms to fabulous suites, there’s hotel accommodation for every occasion.

All of them have been beautifully designed with meticulous attention to detail and luxurious touchesfrom 300-thread-count bedlinen, handsprung mattresses and fluffy bathrobes to smart HDTVs, Nespresso machines, rain showers, and complimentary tea, coffee and mineral water. You’ll receive a Grand welcome and warm, friendly service throughout your stay: nothing is too much trouble.

FOOD & DRINK

Following the tradition of grand hotels with luxurious cocktail bars.

Madeleine’s double-height windows, sparkling chandeliers, and rich soft furnishings make it at once super-glamorous and utterly enticing. Bringing a slice of Parisian chic to the heart of Birmingham, Madeleine serves Champagne, cocktails and bar snacks that take their cue from France with a nod to the West Midlands as well as Madeleine’s signature afternoon tea.

Isaac’s is a neighbourhood restaurant with a New York vibe. Tucked around the corner and with its entrance on Barwick Street, Isaac’s is a new kid on the block that feels as if it’s been around for ever – a welcome addition, we hope, to Birmingham’s thriving restaurant scene.

Amazing, the staff on the front desk were helpful and attentive. Everything was clearly communicated upon arrival and during checkout. The room was spotless and spacious, with everything you expect from such a nice hotel. Everything matched the excellent architecture of the building. It is nicely located, with just a short walk from New Street station.

Fantastic hotel, really enjoyed out stay. Great large room with a lovely view of the church, also a wonderful huge walk in shower Bed was large, pillows could be a little better. Very nice bar area with comfortable seats and good service. Decent breakfast in a stylish setting. One of the best hotels we have had the privilege to stay at keep up the good work.

Loved my stay at the Grand Hotel , breakfast was delicious although only 1 sausage on a full English was a bit tight! Room was nice and clean and very smart , chrome cast on the TV is useful Shower had lots of power and was red hotel My pet peeve about hotels is when the rooms aren't quiet on a night , I was able turn off the AC and there were no annoying other sounds So I had a brilliant night's sleep. Gym looked cool , will try it out next time.

Absolutely incredible! We were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday in the same place we celebrated her birthday last year, so it was a birthday and sort of an anniversary celebration and it was just as perfect as last year. The venue is truly beautiful, the service was amazing and the food was incredible. When we stayed last year, the Grand Suite was stunningly beautiful. We didn't stay this year, but will certainly look at making a visit a yearly tradition as a treat to look forward to every year. Keep up the amazing work! Much love to all at The Grand Hotel ❤️

Celebrating a special occasion: We stayed in a lovely spacious and bright room, it was finished to a high standard with all the finer important details in place. We went to the jazz night in Izaac’s and also had the breakfast in bed experience. The overall experience was very enjoyable. Wasn’t able to access the guide feature on the tele.
