I spent 3 nights at this hotel whilst delivering training courses and it was all perfect. My room was spacious, clean and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The food was incredible and all the staff which I met were super helpful and kind. Billy in particular was very welcoming and ensured I had everything I needed throughout my stay. The onsite parking at this hotel is also an added bonus and it's in a great location for exploring the city. Thanks Leonardo Birmingham x

We were upgraded on arrival from a Superior Double Room to a Superior Double/Twin Room with two double beds, which was appreciated in principle. However, the room still felt quite small, compact, and fairly basic overall. Aside from the Nespresso machine with complimentary capsules and free bottled water, there was little that made the room feel “superior” compared to a standard hotel room. The bathroom included White Company shower gel and shampoo, which was a nice touch, but again this was one of the few details that elevated the experience. Overall, the room did not feel especially spacious or premium in relation to the price paid, and value for money felt lower than expected. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. The buffet selection was very limited, particularly in terms of cold meats, cheeses, yoghurts, jams, and hot food variety. Coffee was from a self-service dispenser and was noticeably low quality. The highlight was a friendly chef preparing eggs and omelettes on request, which added a personal touch — but the ingredients and options were still quite basic. The hotel’s location is excellent and very convenient for getting around Birmingham, which is a major plus. However, overall the stay felt more functional than special, and the facilities and food offering did not quite match the price point.

Stayed a few weeks ago and the front-of-house service was amazing the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The drinks were definitely on the expensive side for the area, in my opinion, and I was served a gin and tonic in a Pepsi Max glass, which felt a little odd. The bedroom was very comfortable the bed and duvet were cosy and made for a really enjoyable stay. The bathroom was clean, but there was no soap in the shower, and even on full heat the water wasn’t very hot. I would definitely stay again as overall it was lovely. It was just the shower and the products provided that let it down slightly, especially as it isn’t the cheapest hotel.

This is not worth its alleged 4 star rating, it’s barely 3. Rooms are tired with numerous questionable stains, bathrooms are better with outrageously high shower pressure which floods the floor & room. Lifts are terrible with only one operating at any one time, get on at the wrong point & you’ll be in the lift for 10 mins stopping at each floor all the way up before repeating all the way down. No AC, anywhere, only heating making rooms & event rooms unbearable. Restaurant is terrible, breakfast is revolting & lunch genuinely embarrassing. Staff are mostly indifferent, unsympathetic, unhelpful & difficult to communicate with. Duty managers are better but difficult to get to. Event management are worse. Everyday we were woken significantly earlier than we would normally be by cleaning staff loudly talking on their phones in the corridors. Some had their phones wedged in their headdress, others just on loud speaker. No pleasantries when exiting, not even a “good morning” in reply. Parking does seem expensive but it maxes out at one price, so you’re not charged repeat 24 hour fees, at least we weren’t anyway.

We went here for the recent badminton tournament and our flight was changed so we came to the hotel one day late but already had paid for the previous day in full. When I first came in to check in the front desk receptionist named Mina was extremely rude and condescending, she told us that she gave our room away despite I already paid for us. She even faulted us for not calling ahead despite that I had already paid for the whole trip and reservation. What kind of service is this? Aren’t they supposed to call on customer to check on us instead the other way around? They wouldn’t consider a refund even though they gave our paid room away? Mina is rude and not professional at all. She never smiled or even attempt to rectify the situation. Shannon the other receptionist had to stay in to rescue here. I stayed in many hotels around the world including all the top hotels and this is my first time with Leonardo Royal and it is quite disappointing to see this kind of service from the front desk. The room is ok, we picked it mainly location. I would think twice before coming here
