Head down to Swansea’s Plantasia Tropical Zoo while you’re visiting the city centre. With loads of things to see and do during your visit, you’ll be able to take your time around this attraction to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

Grow your imagination in the Tropical Zoo where your adventure begins as you step through a giant tree into a real living rainforest. Start by exploring the dark, below ground zone full of creepy crawlies and all those lovely creatures that lurk beneath.

Head through the opening doors onto the forest floor, where immediately you’ll be greeted by a 12ft Python, a colony of leaf-cutting ants, and a rainbow-filled pond full of fish of all sizes.

Venture further into the Arid zone where things start to hot up! Climb through the Meerkats tunnel to get a different perspective of their enclosure. Say hi to Lucy the Lizard, Kong the Bearded Dragon, and count the Egyptian Tortoises. How many can you see?

Keep exploring the Tropical Zoo as you climb high in the canopy, interacting with Oscar the iguana, the marmosets and talkative parrot! Will you be brave enough to enter the Dangerous Plants Zone?

Follow the bridge down past the waterfall towards Fort Crox where you’ll finally come face to face with crocodiles!

There is no time limit to your stay with general admission, and you will discover over 40 species of animals living within the real rainforest.

A small, but lovely zoo, beautifully laid out with a very reasonably priced gift shop. We did the loop numerous times and saw the animals doing lots of different things. If you can't see something on the 1st time around, I would recommend going back as this worked well for us.

Excellent entrance price. You can go round as many times as you like. Car park is for 2 hours which we found was plenty. Many creatures large and small to see. Would definitely recommend going with or without children.

For a zoo on a retail park this was very reasonable and fun to visit. It’s cleverly ‘layered’ to give it lots of interesting perspectives and heights. The wildlife selection was decent for young children, of course you can’t help but feel sad for some in captivity, like the Macaw for example. But I guess that’s zoo’s for you. We arrived but hadn’t booked. It was full booked but they advised there were slots available later and to book online. Which was fine for us to do and wonder the many other retail outlets before going back. Overall perfect experience on a day with bad weather.

We went to Plantasia on a wet holiday with young school-aged children. We bought tickets in advance to benefit from pre-booked discount. Parking was immediately outside the zoo (the car park was exceptionally busy going in-and-out). It was a small zoo, taking an hour and a half to go round at a slow pace. The children's trail gave them a little focus and helped them slow down, though more variation in questions would be better (most of the questions were "how long is ____"). And seeing damaged displays is sad. We all really enjoyed seeing the animals and learning about them though. A great activity, and particularly great in wet weather. Would definitely go again some time.

The zoo is a great place even for a uni student like me. It has a range of animals to explore for a size of zoo like this one. But you gotta walk for more than a round or wait patiently to catch all species as they come and go, some hide in the hole or under the rock so you may not see it at first. But that's where the fun lies. Phillis the reptile is cute and lively, but I noticed a wound on her lower lip and she keeps touching it with her tongue. I hope they take care of it asap.
