The only issue I had was at breakfast. The poor young lady clearing the tables was "run ragged" keeping up with clearing plates/cutlery etc. Consequently there was a shortage of cutlery and the cereal bowls and juice glasses were warm when put back out. I would suggest that more of these need to be kept in reserve in order to avoid these problems. The choices were very good. The hot breakfast chef did an excellent job and was very friendly and kept the choice topped up.

We stayed at the renovated side of the hotel. Nice , clean room but we got one without a view ( just buildings walls/windows next to the hotel. The bed was a bit hard but on the plus side, there is a small fridge and a water kettle ( cups, coffee, tea and sugar). The best part is the location! We walked up and down the main street to eat, shop and sightsee. Highly recommended!

I was staying in st giles for 4 nights, and generally its was fine and I would come back in the future. The most wonderful thing with this hotel it's the location. The service from the staff was also very good and they gave me the room a little early than check in time. For improvement I would say it's the room. I booked an executive double room, and I expect more.. The room was a bit small and needs renovation. Tv is old and very small, and the ac unit is very loud. Its not exactly an executive feel.. But the bathroom was fine and also the stunning views from the windows. Like I said , I would definitely come back l, but if they renovate the rooms its will be a major upgrade

OVERALL I RATE THIS HOTEL AS ADEQUATE POSITIVE: Having spent three nights there while on vacation. It is very close to a large metro ("TUBE") station that gives one access to many parts of the city at an affordable rate; the shower worked great; it is a great location where one can walk to the classical sightseeing venues plus bookstores, grocery stores, theaters, etc.; check in was fast and friendly; concierge was very helpful in arranging a taxi; air conditioning worked well. NOT SO POSITIVE: Room did not have a refrigerator; room was very small with only one chair; toilet did not flush very well; room seemed old and had the atmosphere of needing renovation; the hallway air was stuffy; hotel cleaning personnel came into our room in spite of the door notice to the contrary--they just removed the notice; having to carry heavy luggage up STAIRS from the street to the check-in desk with no ramp or lift available to use was a definite negative. There is a lot of street noise but one is in downtown London so one should expect and tolerate that.

I stayed for one night on a business trip. The check-in experience was pleasant with friendly, helpful staff who made me feel welcome. The lobby is nice enough but the pleasant experience ends there. Sadly, the room itself (161 in my case) didn’t live up to that warm welcome. There was a tangy smell in the room which I didn't notice until I was settled in for the evening due to arriving late (not quite fresh, not quite foul, just a lingering odour). The bed was stupidly soft with the mattress well past it's best days, which made for a restless night. This was not helped by the noise outside. Even with the window shut, it's like there's no air seal as I could clearly hear boy racers, police sirens, lorries unloading, and a nearby shouting match between homeless people, including one man shouting at his dog to shut up. The shower head wouldn't stay put, the sink wouldn’t drain properly, there was no iron available, and the wardrobe wouldn’t shut once clothes were hung - as the hangers were too wide for the wardrobe! A friendly team, but the room really needs some attention to meet even basic comfort standards. I know there's renovation works ongoing which is clear from the signage but only once you get to the hotel. I'd encourage anyone planning to stay here to wait until the work is done in case you get a bad room!
