Our stay was on the same day as a tragedy that happened where someone fell from the top floor, so not indicative of a business as usual day. When we arrived the front of house staff were very friendly and we paid to enter our room earlier. The room was very nice and modern, the air conditioning wasn't working, and a large fan had been set up in the room. The tv was not working, we couldn't access any free view channels or mirror to tv. We were told that maintenance would come to fix it, twice but no one came. The room size was very good with a view of the city and canals. The shower was fantastic and very accessible as was the wholeroom. Sadly while we were out to dinner a tragedy unfolded at the restaurant on the top floor of the cube. When we arrived back paramedics, fire fighters and police were on the scene and we were informed as to what had happened. About 30 mins later we were asked to evacuate, however it was raining, and no where to actually be evacuated to. Some people went to bars, but the bars around the mailbox do not allow under 18s in after 7 30. So we had to sit in nandos for 2 hours while waiting for the all clear. The hotel had no evacuation plan for patrons and no where for the patrons to go in emergency moments, which felt wrong for a business in the city centre. I don't blame the staff on duty as they did what they could, and obviously so expects something like this to happen, but I feel a hotel should have a duty to look after you during an evacuation regardless of the course, especially vulnerable customers such as children and disabled. The restaurant was reopened the next morning for breakfast which was an English breakfast made to order. I know an English breakfast is not a healthy choice, however mine was swimming in fat. The staff I am sure were in shock about the previous nights events so they were a bit stressed however when asked to restock buffet items it was done quickly. It was also sad that people chose to speculate on what had happened infront of children. Taken in context it's a nice, modern hotel, with some wrinkles. However I feel they need to have emergency plans in place and action them, as your safety is in the hotels hands while you stay with them.

I've stayed in this hotel way over 20 times for work. It used to be great. The last few times I've been it was been really warm in the corridors and rooms. But it wasn't so bad in winter. I stayed last night and no word of a lie the room must have been over 30'. I called reception because I've had problems with the temp before. The man said the AC is off because the maintenance contractors were working on the system. YAY! I thought. Thinking they were finally fixing it. That turned out not to be the case. The AC was never fixed. Receptionist did send up an additional fan (all rooms already have one so they clearly know it's an issue). However it was just way too hot to sleep. I stay here for work because of the location. But I only slept a couple of hours and wish I stayed at home and did the 3hr drive in the morning for my meeting. It's a shame because the restaurant is generally ok. There's a nice bar and terrace and it's super close to the venue for my monthly meetings. But last night was the last straw. I won't come back now. It was also £150 for one night on a Tuesday. So it's not exactly cheap. Id happily come back when the AC works. But for now, I'm done.

You can’t stay at this hotel during hot weather. Rooms have windows which do not open, therefore, the rooms are over 30°. The staff pick and choose whether to inform you of this or not. They provide you with a fan which only blows hot air at you. If you are looking for a room that’s practically a sauna then this is a great choice. Requested compensation but they have denied.

Photo says it all - 32 degrees registering on the fan provided as a/c not working. Only informed at check in, absolutely ridiculous. Moved hotels and promised a refund - still not been processed. Avoid like the plague. Stay at AC hotel (ironic name given issue) just next door - lovely hotel, lovely front desk team and great coffee from Black Sheep in morning: The Cube just take your money to stoke the fire they seem to have in the basement…!

Was not informed at all that the A/C is not working. Absolutely unbreathable in the room. Was treated nice at first & given a different room however it slowly became very difficult to stay in. I was then given attitude by daytime reception staff when asking for a full refund & when trying to explain that i should of been informed at time of check-in that there is not ventilation in any of the rooms - i was cut off and not heard at all and felt very disregarded. Not even a single apology for the bad experience and the fact they refuse to refund the full amount despite having to leave the room at 3am because it was unbearable Not very good experience & could of been handled better.
