While waiting for my reservation time at seabird, I went down and decided to have a drink at the hotel bar, and I was very well attended by Angelo, polite and friendly. I had a great experience. I'll recommend it to friends and come back more often.

We loved our stay at the Hoxton. The room was clean and super chic. It was very easy to get everywhere. There is a subway station very close by, and it's a 20-minute walk to the Tower of London and 13 minutes to Borough Market. The staff were extremely friendly and we felt very well looked after. I would book this hotel again anytime.

Location: Great – very convenient and pleasant. Service: Could be improved. The barman was lovely and kindly made me a cappuccino while I was waiting to be seated for breakfast, which I really appreciated. However, the breakfast service itself was quite slow. I was the first to sit down, yet it took nearly 10 minutes for my order to be taken. After that, I waited around 10/15minutes for a small bowl of fruit and almost 20 minutes for the avocado toast — which unfortunately was prepared incorrectly. I ended up having to cancel it as I needed to leave for the airport. No one excused the poor service and gave a bit of an attitude when I was clearly bothered. General vibe is really nice, check in and check out was easy and pleasant and most of the staff are lovely. I did find it odd that the manager also seemed to be scolding two of the employees at reception where it was very easy to hear. If they had of been more attentive (particularly at a less busy time in the morning) the stay would have been more pleasant.

RATS/MICE IN DINING AREA, STAFF ARROGANT, DO NOT STAY HERE! Our recent stay at this hotel was a complete disaster, a stark contrast to a previous wonderful visit. We were horrified to discover a rat/mouse scurrying around the bar area, not once, but twice. The initial manager we reported it to dismissed our concerns with a "no way" and did nothing. A second staff member confirmed no action was taken. We even captured video footage before spotting another rodent directly behind us. To make matters worse, our room had weak water pressure and the taps didn't get hot enough for a shower. When we complained, the hotel's response was equally disgusting. They tried to palm off responsibility to the Food & Beverage team, despite the hotel being their building, and offered a pathetic 20% off a future stay and a voucher instead of the full refund we requested. All of our attempts of trying to resolve this in a civil way was met with arrogance and a complete lack of accountability while also attempting to take more money from us. Their failure to address our complaint directly and resolve the issue as requested is unacceptable. This level of disregard for guest experience and safety is truly shameful.

I’ve stayed at The Hoxton before (including Shepherd’s Bush) and always had a great experience, so I was shocked by how poorly I was treated at Southwark. From the start, staff were cold and unwelcoming. My partner and I are both successful music producers — creative and tattooed — and it genuinely felt like we were being judged for our appearance. The man on reception on Sunday was particularly rude and unfriendly, and despite asking daily, our room was never cleaned once during our three-night stay. Unlike every other Hoxton, payments were taken automatically each night without the chance to review or approve charges. When I asked for a copy of the bill, I was told it would be emailed, but it never arrived. At checkout, the manager loudly read out our bar charges in front of others, which was embarrassing and unprofessional. To make things worse, we saw a mouse run across the restaurant floor while eating, and pest control was on site — clearly not a one-off issue. My partner has a severe phobia of rodents and was extremely distressed. We spent over £1,300 and were made to feel distrusted and unwelcome throughout. This was completely out of line with the usual Hoxton experience and incredibly disappointing. I hope management take this feedback seriously, as the service and hygiene standards here were unacceptable.
