Aparthotel Birmingham

After we fled our Airbnb due to some issues we had a very warm welcome by Palek en Zaya. Thanks again for helping us out with everything! Only one ECO advise, it's rather warm in the hotel and the airco default room temperature seems to be 25C. I don't think that is neccesary.

Fantastic quality rooms in a reasonably easy to access location. Check in and out were both incredibly easy and the staff were very friendly. There is also a small corner shop located at the ground floor which you can access through the lobby that has a great selection.

This is a great place to stay in Birmingham City Centre. The apartments are fairly sized and well equipped. East chcek out and the shop attached to the apartments is very handy!

Luxury??? Booked and paid extra for a room for 3 people. 10.30pm and we have to go to reception for bedding for the sofa bed. 30mins later someone came to the door to ask again what we needed. Only to inform us that the hotel was fully booked & it would be difficult to find anything. How is that the customers problem? How is being busy any excuse for not providing what was booked and paid for? Finally he came back with a SINGLE duvet with a separate DOUBLE duvet cover for us to put together ourselves. NO EXTRA TOWEL as requested, so two towels between three people. This was after the fiasco at check-in. We had booked AND PAID for an early 12pm check in, we arrived at 1:30, only to be told that they are BUSY (busy is used as an excuse for extremely poor service here) and the room would be another hour!! After we did not quietly accept that as we had pre-booked and paid for the early check-in for a reason, we agreed for one of the two rooms booked to be ready in half an hour at 2pm. For some reason they seemed to think that not charging for the early check-in was some sort of compensation for the aggravation & not because they simply did not provide the service. How can they not be prioritising the early check in rooms? They promised to bring the key to the other room up as soon as it was ready but as you can probably already guess, we had to go down and request it. The coffee machine in the room was broken too. Flimsy broken clothes hangers. Absolutely appalling customer service. Great location but much better service elsewhere. I do not recommend that anyone stay here.

Sadly had a horrendous night here. Firstly, a very chaotic check-in, then a free "upgrade" (more on that later), next on my way to the room I smelled cigarette smoke indoors, but I just thought it would be a temporary thing. Got to the room, not quite what I had booked, plus no USB sockets so no way to charge my phone. Reception said I have to buy my own charger from the attached convenience store. I awoke at 2am to find my room filled with cigarette smoke, complained via WhatsApp (there is no phone to reception), went to the bathroom which smelled of weed, back to the bedroom. Laying awake the smoke coming in was now menthol cigarettes. Disgusting. I asked for a room change and was told that the only rooms available were on the 3rd floor so I could only be moved opposite where I was? They seem to upgrade you to give you the room they want rather than the one you have booked. Eventually after pressing them they put me in an accessible room on the 6th floor which was fine. I complained on check-out and they said they would keep the deposit of the room that broke the rules. But, that's not really any help to me. Worst stay in my many years of travel.
