We had an excellent stay here. The team were very accommodating and the room was spacious and very clean. We asked for a cot for our newborn in advance and the room was kitted out with cot, changing mat, nappy bin and extra bin bags. Room service was quick and fantastic. Only negative was that there were no plug sockets by the bed, only old USB style sockets. Worth noting if you need to travel with CPAP or other bedside equipment.

We stayed at this hotel on Saturday 17th January and had a truly fantastic experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the reception staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, which immediately set the tone for our stay. Our room on the 6th floor (room 614) was spotless and beautifully presented, with an amazing view over the city. It was my wife’s birthday, and she was completely surprised by the stay — and especially impressed by how clean and tidy the room was. My wife is a big coffee drinker, and we had gone through all the coffee in the room quite quickly. We spoke with the housekeeping maid on the 6th floor, who genuinely could not have been more helpful. She went out of her way to provide us with extra coffee and tea and was absolutely fantastic. A huge credit to the housekeeping team for the excellent standards they clearly maintain. The bar and restaurant staff were unbelievable, and the food was amazing — both the service and quality were spot on. I would 100% stay here again and would happily return in the future. A brilliant hotel and an all-round excellent experience.

Food and service were absolutely excellent, could not fault the staff and quality of the food, we booked the hotel package with evening dinner and breakfast included. The room was clean and tidy but a little bit warm in places, door frames and bathroom need some maintenance. Overall the visit was very enjoyable. The bar staff and restaurant staff cannot be faulted. The location in the mailbox is also a great place to stay in Birmingham. I would have given 5 stars, just that small attention to detail and maintenance required.

I’ve stayed at various Malmaisons over the years and unfortunately it’s just no longer the luxury experience it once was, not at this particular one based on our stay anyway. Having paid close to £200 for one night, the experience just wasn’t anywhere near what it should have been. In contrast to the signature scent when you walk in the hotel, the whole room and linen smelled stale and not fresh at all. The room was dated and in much need of some TLC. The shower was too small to move in. On arrival I had to call down for someone to change the bedding on one of the beds as it wasn’t clean. The curtains like most of the room were old and tired looking. The towels were rough and also didn’t smell fresh. Thankfully we brought our own. One of the sockets was loose on the wall and there are only USBs next to the bed, not plug sockets, most of which barely held a charge. All staff we encountered were nice enough, though the questioning as to what was actually wrong with the bedding when I initially called reception was unnecessary and not what I would expect or have experienced in years prior. The discount for Q Car Park next door was handy though the pre-pay didn’t work as the barrier didn’t go up on entrance or exit and traffic getting out of the car park was absolute carnage but that’s nothing to do with the hotel, just an FYI for anyone booking. (For reference, it was the double double room we had as we needed two double beds and that’s the only room type that facilitates that - I have stayed in them before along with the other styles of room.)
