One of the oldest hotels in Birmingham

Built in 1704, originally as a wayside Inn, the hotel has over the centuries become steeped in history and is recalled by many as being the most popular place to stay in Birmingham. The red brick Victorian architecture of the original building together with the large garden, lawns and plentiful car parking set us apart from the other city hotels.

Spacious rooms

Set in leafy grounds, less than a mile from Birmingham city centre, this hotel has welcomed many famous guests over the last century & has a blue plaque in honour of J.R R.Tolkien who stayed here with his wife Edith in 1916 when on leave from the army.

The 44 spacious guest rooms are traditionally decorated, and each has a flat-screen TV, tea & coffee facilities and a work desk. Some rooms have garden views, and the bathrooms have free toiletries and a hairdryer.

The hotel has 6 meeting and function rooms and can cater for private events, garden parties & wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Whilst staying at the Plough & Harrow Hotel guests can relax in one of the elegant intimate lounges, dine in the restaurant with terrace overlooking the garden and take a drink from one of our bars or al fresco in finer weather.

New Street Rail Station is just a 5 minute drive away. Car parking on site is FREE when you book directly with the hotel or via Best Western Hotels. Otherwise £10 per night.
